Principal's Message
Greetings Families,
This week we honor and celebrate our teachers and support staff during Teacher Appreciation Week. Many of our teachers play so many different roles: They are coaches, mentors, advocates, role models and leaders. In the past year, our teachers have risen to unprecedented challenges and made the necessary adjustments to figure out how to teach remotely. Not only did they have to learn how to facilitate learning on-line but they also served as technology support for students and families. They worked hard to engage all students and connect with those hardest to reach. During this phase of Hybrid learning our educators are teaching simultaneously to students in person and on-line. Their level of commitment and passion for learning and student success is inspiring.
This Friday is the last day for the quarter four progress report. Parents and students can see quarter four progress report marks in Powerschool on Friday, May 14th. Please contact your student’s teachers directly if you have any questions or concerns.
We will host a virtual Co-Principal Input Session for Parents, Guardians and Community Members on Thursday, May 5th from 4:00 p.m - 5:00 p.m. You are invited to a family and community input session on May 6th from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM to tell us what qualities and skills you would like to see in our new leader. Counseling Information
Senior News:
The California Student Aid Commission has extended the Cal Grant Deadline for 30 days after the March 2 original deadline. This is great news. Any student who submits their FAFSA up until April 1, 2021 will be eligible for the Cal Grant.
Seniors – About Those Financial Aid Packages..
- Make sure you understand the components and terms of your financial aid award package. How much of it is grant (“free”) money and how much of it is loans (must be repaid)? Is the grant money renewable each year if the level of need remains the same? What grade point average must be maintained for scholarship aid?
- A College Work-Study Award is money that must be earned by the student in a part-time job (usually on-campus) during the school year.
- Financial aid packages from schools with similar costs may be quite different; this is often due to the fact that various schools use different analyses to determine how much families can afford to pay. It’s essential for this reason to carefully compare the financial information from each college!
Course Selection
Counselors sent out emails to the Class of 2022 and Class of 2023 students to choose their courses for the 2021-2022 school year. Counselors will be reviewing student course selection submissions and ensuring they are appropriately aligned with diploma requirements.
Summer School
Summer School enrollment has begun! If your student has a D or F on their transcript then sign up for Summer School. Your student has the ability to recover up to four credits through the onsite summer program; two credits each session: 6/21/21-7/9/21 and 7/12/21-7/30/21. During the summer experience, students will reconnect with school, staff and peers as they learn through pre-developed projects. Students that demonstrate content area competency will have the opportunity to earn secondary credit and make-up the "D" or "F"s that were earned in courses required for a high school diploma. Fill out the form below to complete the summer onsite registration by April 30, 2021. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your student's counselor.
