January Newsletter
CGD Elementary March Newsletter
Student-Led Conferences
Thank you to everyone that came to our student-led conferences! When our teachers and families work as a team we can help our students grow. It takes a village to prepare the next generation of leaders and fortunately CGD has an amazing village that are dedicated to helping our young people succeed. As this newsletter is composed, there are 40 school days left to make an impact on our students and it is important to make every one count.
Preschool & Kindergarten Round up
Thank you to everyone that completed paperwork for our preschool and kindergarten round up! If you picked up a packet but have yet to return the completed forms, please do so as soon as possible. Having accurate round up numbers helps us when planning for next school year.
If you missed round up or have any questions, please call the school (515) 532-2873 or email Mr. Carder. jcarder@clargold.org
CGD celebrated World Down Syndrome Awareness day on March 21st. The 21st day of March was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. Students and staff were invited to celebrate this day by wearing wild socks and listening to guest speakers. Students learned that although people with Down Syndrome have some unique differences, they have some of the same goals, hopes, and interests much like you and me.
ISASP Testing in April
3rd through 5th graders will start taking the Iowa Statewide Assessments of Student Progress (ISASP) in the month of April. 3rd and 4th graders will take 3 assessments each covering reading, math, and language arts/writing. 5th graders will take 4 assessments covering reading, math, language arts/writing, and science.
It is very important to help make sure your student prepares for the assessments by ensuring they:
- Get a good nights sleep before the assessments
- Eat breakfast the morning of the assessments
- Know the importance of taking their time and doing their best
If you have children that are in the early stages of learning how to read and you would like to give them extra practice learning letter names, please reach out to the school to get the materials that accompany the above pictures. You can contact the school by phone (515) 532-2873 or by email. jcarder@clargold.org
