Principal's Message
Welcome back to our Coyotes and our families, to the 2021-2022 school year! We are already well into the school year routine and are very grateful to have our students and staff back in the building. Our goal is to provide a safe and positive learning environment for your children. I greatly value your input, so please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns by calling the school office at 816-521-5430; or my email at ron_alburtus@isdschools.org.
Each day we remind our Coyotes to “Reflect Your Best” and “Be the Example” by showing that you know what it means to be safe, respectful, and responsible. For August and September, our words of the month are Ambition and Responsibility. On my daily video announcements I share a brief reminder of the word or character trait, and how students can practice showing ambition or responsibility. Encouraging our Coyotes to keep on trying and never giving up is so important. Soon they will hear about Grit. Grit is the ability to continue working towards a plan or goal and sticking with a task even when it becomes hard. I encourage you to join me in reminding our children about showing grit, by practicing at home.
“Ever tried. Ever failed. No Matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” Samuel Beckett

Reading Round-Up
Did you know reading regularly at home provides children with the practice they need to become great readers? Reading just 20 minutes a night can make a positive impact in your child's reading ability. A fun idea is to have your child read to their pets, siblings, or stuffed animals!
