JANUARY NEWS 2020
BAYVILLE SCHOOL
A NOTE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL
Happy New Year to all Bayville School families! We would like to thank all of the parents and friends who generously supported our Dream Tree gift initiative. You helped to make the holidays extra special for many of our Bayville families.
SCHOOL SECURITY
The safety of our students and staff has, and always will remain, a number one priority. We continually update our security plans and procedures at each school within the Berkeley Township School District. We also practice various security drills on a monthly basis.
Please remember to sign in and out when visiting our school.
We appreciate your cooperation as we work together to help ensure the safety of our students.
SCHOOL CLOSING AND EARLY DISMISSAL
As we go through the winter months, there may be times when school needs to be closed or an early dismissal or delayed opening may occur due to inclement weather. You will be notified through our Global Connect system provided that the contact telephone number is correct on the parent portal. Please remember to update your information when necessary. Our district website is another good source for information on school closings or altered schedules. Please do not rely on radio stations as your only source of information.
PROJECT TEAM SUPERHEROES
BREAKFAST AND LUNCH ON DELAYED OPENINGS
On mornings with a delayed school opening, there will be a bagged breakfast. Lunches will be a cold lunch in a bag consisting of a cook’s choice sandwich, a fruit, and milk. There is no lunchroom time, as students pick up their bags or bring lunch from home. The children have lunch in their classrooms with their teacher while doing their class work.
FLU SEASON
Prevention—Be sure to stress to your children the importance of washing their hands, using lots of soap and water, and scrubbing until there are bubbles –before meals and snacks and after coughing, sneezing, or using a tissue.
There is a place to cough—Children need to learn to always cover their mouths when they cough, but one way to prevent the spread of germs is to have them cough into their sleeves, not their hands.
Keeping children home from school.—If your child was sent home from school because of a fever he should be kept home for 24 hours after his fever breaks. Children who are feverish or nauseated can’t learn well and can spread their illness to others. If your child will be out sick you should call the school and leave a message for the nurse. We have a 24 hour answering service so you may call at any time of day or the night before. If you would like homework put together for your child, please call in the morning and the work will be in the main office at dismissal time.
