Twin Peaks Middle School
Weekly RAM Newsletter
A Brief Note from Dr. Burke
Dear Ram families,
We made it through the first full week of school and the students seem to be settling into their routines quite nicely. This week we celebrate Back to School Night on Wednesday. Parents who are new to Twin Peaks are highly encouraged to attend the PTSA parent education seminar on MyPlan, Synergy, and MyConnect which begins at 5:15 in the multipurpose room. Here you will learn the best ways to stay informed of your student’s assignments, grades, and what’s going on in class.
One of the biggest mistakes I see parents make when their children transition to middle school is assuming that if they don’t hear from the teacher everything is okay. This is not the case. In elementary school teachers are responsible for 30 students. In middle school, they serve 170 students. It is impossible to contact every parent. MyPlan, Synergy and MyConnect are the tools you need to stay connected. Immediately following the education seminar there will be a brief PTSA meeting. Please click here to join the PTSA and to learn more about what this amazing team has planned for our students. Please consider joining. The membership drive at registration this year was not nearly as fruitful as we had hoped and we really do need your support.
Classroom visits will begin at 6:00. Traffic will be congested, but there will be plenty of parking on the basketball courts behind the school. Please plan to arrive a little early and stop by Mrs. Carter's office to vote for your School Site Council representatives. If you prefer, you can also vote online via this link. Voting will remain open through Thursday, September 5th.
Attention all 6th grade parents, the 6th grade carnival is coming up on Friday, September 6th right after school from 3:30-5:00pm. Tickets are only $5 and are on sale until Thursday at lunch. Tickets will also be sold at Back to School Night. Be sure to go online and print a permission slip TODAY! You must have a signed permission slip in order to purchase your ticket. The ticket cost includes a hot dog, popcorn, otter pop and so much more. Students will exit campus after school and re-enter at the gate under the sails. Tickets and student ID will be checked at the gate upon entry. Don’t forget, this is a special event for our 6th grade students only. WEB can’t wait to see you there!
That’s it for now. I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday because tomorrow is Labor Day and there is no school. Sleep in, and remember, Tuesday is a 2/4/6 day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Burke
