PAWS
Oley Valley Elementary School - October
Principal's Update
The first few weeks of school have gone by quickly at OVES. The students and staff have been busy. Students have been working hard on displaying appropriate behaviors, earning over 1,000 PAWS cards to date! Students have also completed their beginning of year (BOY) assessments in the areas of reading and math. Teachers will use the BOY assessments to guide instruction and interventions for students.
OVES will not be slowing down as we move into the month of October. Students will be exposed to activities that promote fire safety during Fire Prevention week (October 10 -14). Students will be engaging in a Fun Run on October 26 offered through the PTO. The fun run is the major fundraising activity of the year for the PTO. OVES will be hosting Poetry Alive for students during the third week of October. Finally, October will conclude with the annual Halloween Parade on Friday, October 28. The parade will start at 1PM.
Halloween Parade
Oley Valley Fun Run
The OVES PTO will be hosting a Fun Run for students on Wednesday, October 26. The Fun Run is the major fundraiser for the PTO. The money raised from the run will go towards grade level field trips, school-wide assemblies, and other resources / activities for the students at OVES. Pledges can be turned into the front office or submitted online at funrun.com by entering the OVES school access code: 383-615.
Veterans Day Lunch
Parent Drop-Off and Parent Pick-Up
Parent Drop-Off
We are asking parents to adhere to the following guidelines for parent drop-off:
1. Please stay in your vehicle. Getting out of the vehicle slows down the flow of cars and can also create a safety hazard for students and vehicles.
2. If you need to assist your child getting out of the vehicle, please pull forward and park on the left side after the yellow post. This will allow vehicles to continue to drop-off and move through the line.
3. Stay in line. Please do not pass other vehicles on the right hand side or left hand side to advance in the drop-off line. Doing this will create a safety hazard for everyone at parent drop-off.
Parent Pick-Up
1. Stay in your vehicle. Getting out of the vehicle slows down the flow of cars and ultimately the time it takes to get through the line.
2. If a child needs to be strapped into a car seat or there are other issues with getting a child prepared in the vehicle, please pull forward and park in the grass on the right side of the road. This will allow vehicles to continue to fill the parent pick-up bays.
3. Stay in line. Please do not pass other vehicles on the right hand side to advance in the pick-up line. Doing this will create a safety hazard for everyone at parent pick-up.
