WARRIOR NEWS
AUGUST 14, 2020
WELCOME WARRIORS AND WARRIOR FAMILIES!
As you are aware, Eatonville School District will be opening this fall in a fully remote format. At this time, the Pierce County Health Department is not allowing us to have students on campus. As we continue to work through the details of a strong start to our school year in a distance learning format, we want to give you some idea of what the fall will look like.
All EMS students will have 6 classes. Student schedules will be released on AUGUST 24 via Skyward Student Access and Skyward Family Access. School begins on September 2.
All EMS students will be provided with a Chromebook device for their learning needs. (See below) Textbooks and any necessary materials will be checked out to students as needed, too.
Eatonville School District is working with a variety of outside organizations to support students without internet access. More information will be provided as those plans solidify. We are committed to finding solutions, and we will have options that were not available last spring. If you have questions, please email access@eatonvilleschools.org.
Each class will follow the regular curricular scope and sequence so students can meet grade level expectations.
Live, online instruction (recorded for access later if needed) will take place from 9:00-11:45 am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Students will have breaks between class sessions.
In addition to live instruction, students will be expected to participate in and complete classwork that includes recorded instruction (asynchronous), as well as small group and independent work.
Support will be available to all students daily and will be required of students struggling to meet standards. Teachers will help students individually or in small groups from 12:15-2:30 pm every day, Monday through Friday. If students have questions or need help, they can ask the teacher during the live online lessons or during the live online support sessions.
Student work will be graded following our traditional grading practices and parents/guardians can monitor grades and missing assignments through Skyward Family Access.
Student orientation information will be provided in an online format prior to the start of school. This will include specific information for 6th graders and new students.
More information will be out in the next week or two. If you have specific questions that have not been answered, please contact us!
EMS Chromebook Pickup
All students currently enrolled in Eatonville School District will receive a Chromebook for the 2020-2021 school year. This includes students in the Eatonville Online Academy (6th-12th Grade), and Elementary Virtual Academy (new program for Kindergarten-5th Grade).
Plan to bring your child(ren) to the check out. Students will be asked to login on site to ensure their device is working properly with the assistance of the IT Department.
Homeschool students, Mount Rainier Parent Partnership (MRPP) for Kindergarten-5th Grade students and students who are not enrolled in Eatonville School District will not receive a Chromebook.
Families will need to come to the school at which their student is enrolled in order to check out a device. Families who have multiple students enrolled in multiple schools can check out a device from one school, in order to prevent having to travel to multiple schools on different days.
Check Out Schedule: 4pm - 7pm at each school site:
Monday, August 17th, 2020 - Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy
Tuesday, August 18th, 2020 - Eatonville Elementary School

Thursday, August 20th, 2020 - Eatonville Middle School and Eatonville Online Academy
