Wildcat Word
Monday, September 27, 2021 - Issue #4
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope you all had a great weekend. It is going to be a great week at Welborne! We have many things that we are looking forward to this week - and it's only a 4 day week! Please remember that this Friday is a P.A.Day - students will stay home while staff engage in professional development.
Don't forget that the School Advisory Council elections will be held today - Monday, September 27th. This meeting, and all meetings for the foreseeable future, will be held virtually. Meetings begin at 6:15 p.m. The link to this meeting is included below.
A REMINDER: Adults, please remember to mask on the yard during pick-up and drop-off time. This is not just to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 but also to model appropriately for students who are required to wear masks all day.
If you have any questions or if there's something we have missed, please email us at welba@limestone.on.ca
Warm regards,
Ms. Fraser, Mrs. Clapp, Mr. McFarlane & Mrs. Hart

Staff Changes
At this time of year, there is sometimes a shift in available teaching positions in the board, which can lead to staff changes in a school. Some Welborne staff have recently been successful candidates for some of these positions.
While saying good-bye is never easy, we are excited for the new professional opportunities that these educators have secured. Ms. Sara Rowbotham and Ms. Amanda McMurter have been given full-time positions with the Limestone District School Board. Both will be teaching kindergarten, Ms. Rowbotham at Joyceville Public School and Ms. McMurter in the Elementary Virtual School. Mr. Patrick Large will be joining the team at Calvin Park Public School teaching grade 8 - we know that they will benefit from his many skills and talents, but he will be missed greatly at Welborne. Please note that these teaching positions will be filled by occasional teachers until we can hire additional permanent staff at Welborne.
Congratulations Mr. Kay!
Dans la salle de Francais...
Next, they built their houses in Minecraft and followed up by creating a real estate advertisement for their home, complete with a description, as well as the address and the price, written all in French!
Fantastique!

Terry Fox Walk 2021
Our community is doing a great job so far with online donations currently at $1,165. Cash & cheque donations at $640. Making a total of $1,805! We are still accepting donations at the school, or you can donate electronically at http://www.terryfox.ca/WelborneAvenuePSKingston
The format of the walk will be a little different this year. As it was last year, classes will walk the track in their cohorts at their own designated time.
If you would like to discuss Terry Fox at home, there are plenty of resources at terryfox.org that you can use.
He never gave up.
