Evacuation Drill
Evacuation Drill
On Wednesday, September 21, Blue Ash Elementary will be conducting a school wide safety evacuation drill to the UCBA campus between 9:15 and 10:30 p.m. During this drill, community emergency response personnel will be on site to assist and provide important feedback to us.
We want you to be aware so that if you should come to school during this time, you are not alarmed with this activity. Conducting this drill is one of our measures to practice our safety procedures. Many students are already familiar with this procedure as we have previously practiced and discussed by grade levels.
National Public Lands Day
Come celebrate National Public Lands Day with friends from Blue Ash Elementary. We will be at Blue Ash Nature Park, helping to replenish the walking paths with gravel. This is a beautiful park that many of our children enjoy throughout the year. Now is our chance to give back and take care of our beautiful community!
Day: Saturday, September 24
Where: Blue Ash Nature Park - 4337 Cooper Rd.
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Meeting Place: Blue Ash Nature Park - Parking Lot
If you would like to participate, please print out the flyer below, complete the information and return to school so Toyota can plan for how many people will be joining us. Gloves, T-shirts, drinks and food will be provided!
Hope to see you there!
Notes from our Nurse...
Here are some beginning of the School year notes from our School Nurse:
Emergency contact information and student health information. Remember to keep Final Forms current throughout the school year. The Final Forms tab is found on the upper right hand corner of the Sycamore Community Schools District web site. This information is vital in the event your child is sick or having a health concern. Health conditions can change throughout the school year, please share this information so we can provide the best care for your child. If you have questions about Final Forms, please contact wyrickd@sycamoreschools.org or jansonj@sycamoreschools.org .
Important Sycamore School Health Information is found in the Student Health Handbook found on our school district website at http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2268
Illness guidelines are listed on our school district website at http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2308
Information regarding students with food allergies are listed on out school district website http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2309
Medication procedures for students that may need to take medications (including prescription, over the counter or herbal remedies) during the school day are found at http://www.sycamoreschools.org/Page/2305
Lice 101: Inspect your child’s hair routinely for head lice or if your child is scratching their head. Lice cannot jump or fly. They are transmitted by direct head to head contact with another person with lice or sharing items placed in the hair. Children should, therefore, be instructed against sharing hats, clothing, or hair items with others. Children should take their own pillows and sleeping bags when spending the night with a friend. Household pets do not transmit lice. In addition to the district student health headbook, a great resource for lice information is https://www.aap.org/en-us/about-the-aap/aap-press-room/pages/AAP-Updates-Treatments-for-Head-Lice.aspx
Vision and Hearing Screenings are scheduled for October 5, 7 and 12. All Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade and all new students new to the district will be screened. It is important for students to bring their glasses if they have been prescribed glasses.
Remember that kids need sleep. Encourage your child(ren) to get the necessary rest so that they are ready for learning and fun.
Breakfast is a must. Children learn better when they eat breakfast. Protein is important as well, so add eggs, cheese, or peanut butter to that toast or waffle!
Water is important too. It helps with fatigue and fighting infection, so water bottles are great to send to school.
If you have question or concerns during the school year please contact:
Diana Wyrick, RN, Blue Ash Elementary Licensed School Nurse at wyrickd@sycamoreschools.org or 513-686-1713.Water Filling Station
We are happy to announce our new water filling station located right outside of our gym by the media center! We are looking forward to taking care of our environment by using refillable water bottles as often as we can. Please help yourself next time you join us at Blue Ash Elementary!

Blue Ash Beach Bash!!!!
Family Fun Fundraiser to benefit Mrs. Jones and Mr. Rolfes
A reminder that Blue Ash Elementary is hosting a Beach Bash fundraiser to raise funds for two very special staff members who are battling cancer. Mrs. Stephanie Jones (1st grade) and Mr. Rolfes (custodian).
At the bash we will have a great DJ, dancing, food, and prizes!
Tickets to the bash are $10 per person…..and to make things just a little more interesting, Mrs. Combs will allow all students who participate in the fundraising to tape her to a wall of the school! Each student who brings in a donation or purchases tickets will be given a strip of duct tape to tape her up! The more that donate, the better chance we have of getting her to stick there for a while!!
Thank you to those who have already purchased tickets or made a general donation - we will get your tape ready!!
We hope you can join us for this special event.
