We had such a fun week of learning at Connors. The weather has been absolutely beautiful and our students have been enjoying having physical education, breakfast, lunch and recess outdoors!
Throughout this week students have been working on their Linkit! benchmarks in Math and ELA and grades K-2 finished up their DRA2 reading assessments.

Students Lead the Morning Announcements!
Kindergarten

Kindergarten Math
This week in Kindergarten students learned about numbers. Students were able to identify a number, draw the amount, and fill in the tens frame correctly. This week students practiced recognizing their numbers and following directions with a fun Halloween Math puzzle.
Kindergarten Science
Ms. Watson’s class used the design process to create their own inventions. They planned and built their inventions with pipe cleaners! Then they presented their inventions to the class.
1st Grade Science
1st graders published their first personal narrative stories
2nd Grade
2nd Grade ELA
Literacy:
Second graders have been practicing their summarizing skills using the Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then, Finally format. After listening to the weekly read aloud (Not Norman: A Goldfish Story OR Finding Cal), students used the format to summarize the text in their own words. Students also added the previously learned story elements aspect to record the main characters, setting, problem and solution. Writing is an important part about 2nd grade, and the students are adjusting to the practice MARVELOUSLY!
2nd Grade Math
Math:
In Math, second graders have learned a lot of new skills and games focused around adding, subtracting, time and money. In order to continuously practice and improve upon those skills, students participate in Math Workshop. Math Workshop allows students to take ownership of their work by selecting activities to complete independently or with a partner.

Governor's Educator of the Year Nomination Form
he New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) aims to recognize educators and encourage them to become champions for education. Governor Murphy and the NJDOE remain committed to a stronger and fairer New Jersey, which means celebrating a diverse workforce. Each school is encouraged to participate in this program, as it honors hardworking teachers and educational services professionals. This program promotes a culture that recognizes excellence, creates a sense of pride and brings public attention to the work of outstanding educators.
Please find attached, the Governor’s Educator of the Year Program Nomination Form & Eligibility Criteria. Please be mindful to adhere to the Eligibility Requirements as detailed in the link below. You may complete this form by printing it or follow the link below, fill out online and print.
Kindly submit your completed forms to the Main Office no later than November 10th, 2020.

PTO Meeting-November 10th, 2020, 12:00 pm
I am thrilled to share with you that we will have our Connors PTO meeting on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at 12:00 pm via Google Meets. All Connors families are welcome to attend the meeting. We will be discussing our upcoming Connors events.
