Teaching 911
Our very own Mr. Blair was featured in The Intelligencer as an example of how Social Studies teachers taught middle and high school students about 911 last Friday. As pictured, Mr. Blair worked with students as they explored an interactive 9/11 timeline. To read more about the article by Gary Weckselblatt, click here.

Student Voice & Choice
Over the summer, our Student Council and National Junior Honor Society Leaders suggested that we ask for student ideas when we create the Tamanend Clubs. Mrs. Blasko, our Club Coordinator, has created a great survey where students can share a club idea and let us know if they would be interested in helping a teacher to lead that club. Just click here and submit!
Picture Day
Picture Day will be tomorrow, September 13th, with the make-up date being Thursday, November 3rd. Students should always dress appropriately for school and meet Tamanend’s Dress Standards. Picture Day forms will come home with your student this week and should be returned with your student on picture day.

Tamanend Parent Council
Parent Council is an open meeting where all parents are welcome to attend to learn more about Tamanend Middle School. Parent Council typically meets on the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. There is no obligation to attend all Parent Councils and there are no elected positions. Parent Council is a forum for parents and school leaders to learn from and with each other, together.
At this month's Parent Council, we will give an overview of Tamanend and talk about topics of parent interest for Parent Council meetings throughout the year.

This Friday, September 16th, we will kick off our Magazine & Cookie Dough Drive at our first school assembly. The moneys raised by our drive last year were used to install water bottle filling stations throughout the school, along with supporting many student events and activities.

Boomerang Nominations for September
Nominations for the first Boomerang Asset of the school year are due by Sunday, 9/25. This month's asset is Positive Family Communication (#2). Young person and his/her parents communicate positively, and young person is willing to seek advice and counsel from parents. Anyone can nominate a Tamanend student. Parents/Guardians, grandparents, neighbors, siblings, friends... the more student nominated the more there is to celebrate! Please click here to submit your nomination.
Parking Lot Safety
It is highly recommended that parents/guardians of students who walk or take the bus have their students walk or take the bus. On days, when students need extra help, please consider driving them to their assigned bus stop and wait together in the car until the bus arrives. A student will never be marked tardy if they arrive by bus.
If parents decide to drive students to school, please plan enough travel time to allow for safety and congestion on Stuckert Road and in our school parking lot. The speed limit in our lot is 15 mph.
The following is a mapping of how the student drop-off works in our parking lot. Drop off should only happen where the paw prints indicate on the map. For your safety and the safety of our students, please follow these directions and do not drop your student off on Stuckert Road, the Visitor's Parking area, or in the middle of the Main Parking Area. Thank you for your support and careful driving.
