Superintendent's Daily Message (Day 11) - March 30, 2020
As we embark upon our third week of remote learning, I would like to thank you for your cooperation. I continue to be amazed by everyone's patience, understanding, and generosity. Please remember if you have any questions about the remote learning plans, please contact your child's principal. He or she will be more than happy to help you immediately.
I would like to take this opportunity to clarify some specifics regarding are meal distribution program. As you know, we have decided to continue serving meals during our spring break. We have two options for pick up. The first option for meal pick up is daily. Daily meals include breakfast and a hot lunch. Our food service provider is not permitted to package hot lunches for multiple days. However, there is a second option for meal pick up. This would be a Monday pick up of breakfast and a cold lunch for three days and then a Thursday pick up of breakfast and a cold lunch for two days. We are serving meals to any child (regardless of free or reduced lunch status) that attends our district schools, the three charter schools in Hoboken, or County Prep/High Tech.
In this edition of the Herald, I have included video messages from our principals, virtual band videos, photos of our students working on their studies, art videos, and health and wellness videos. There are also resources included for you and your family.
I am not sure if you had the opportunity to participate in last week's Yoga Session with Mrs. Kate DeCock. If not, you can join her session tomorrow. Kate will be hosting a kid friendly yoga class at 2pm tomorrow. She will do about 30 minutes of movement and 10-15 minutes of breathing and relaxation. The information for the class can be found below:

Talking to Kids About the Coronavirus
As many of you know, I am a mom too. Although my daughter is 24 years old, she continues to ask me questions about the Coronavirus. I provide her with a number of resources daily to read. I fully understand that talking to younger children about the Coronavirus can be difficult and confusing based on the number of messages that are coming your way from news media. I have attached a link that was sent to me by Carrie Ellis that may help make your conversations a bit easier. Click on the link below:

Mental Health Support
The NJ Department of Human Services operates a toll-free “warm line” which is a resource for people seeking mental health service. The warm line is activated during events that impact the mental health of New Jersey residents. The warm line is available 24 hours and has language access; (877) 294-HELP (4357). NOTE: The “warm line” does not replace 911 and is not used to report emergencies.
