PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Dear Wildcat Students & Parents,
As you already know, on Monday 10.5.20 we are starting a new schedule at Jefferson. A copy of the schedule for the month October is below in this newsletter. The new schedule:
Keeps classes and teachers the same as our current remote platform
Aligns to the tentative schedule of instruction, should in-person learning resume
Maintains daily ELA and Math time
Increases synchronous time for Fine/Practical Arts and Physical Education
Better utilizes office hours for their intended purpose as a student support period for specific content areas or programmatic (IEP/504/EL) supports
Moves the student support period earlier in the day, potentially allowing for better planning and use of asynchronous learning time
Maintains the district priority area of social emotional wellness
Due to these factors, we anticipate a smooth transition to this schedule as students will start on Monday with a very familiar pattern as before with Advisory, followed by periods 1, 3, 5, & 7. Your student's advisory teacher will help your student daily with keeping track of which day it is. See below for the schedule for October.
Additionally, I'd like to share this amazing resource with you. The District 45 Student Services team have worked together to create some common tips and tricks as well as ways to support students. This guide is available to you to support your student's learning while at home. Feel free to review it at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Ow7T0xWPZ9j8_FZVb2z42XVa71y9fVpDBoh7m4x9gNo/edit?usp=sharing.
Have a wonderful week and I hope everyone is safe and well. It's a great day to be a Wildcat!!!
Best wishes,
Raul Gaston, Principal
