Tigerville Times
April Edition
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Tigerville Families,
Can you believe that it is already Spring? It is so nice to have warmer weather! I hope you have been able to see our red tulips blooming. Our children planted these tulips during Red Ribbon Week in October. Be sure to check our school’s Facebook page to see what is happening at Tigerville. Also, our school’s calendar highlights all upcoming school events. Thank you for all you do to help our school be the best in Greenville County!
Sincerely,
D. Jackson

This month our students will be learning and practicing the Good Character word of being Dependable, which means that others can count on us to do what we say we will do. Being dependable can mean doing your homework each night, taking out the trash or feeding the dog each day. When teachers and family members can count on you, you are being Dependable. Our students will be learning about being Dependable on the morning news show as well as in their classroom guidance lessons.
Our Student Council is hosting its final project for the school year – to purchase a few coding robotics kits for the very popular Tinker Lab. The Tigerville Tinker Lab is located in our media center, and is available to students during recess time, to challenge themselves to think and create using technology. Additional kits would allow our students to expand their tech skills as they explore and learn. Student Council will be hosting a Hat Day on Friday, April 12th. For $1, students can wear their favorite hat for the day. All dollars collected will be used to purchase additional coding robotics kits for the Tinker Lab.
Our fifth graders continue to get ready for middle school, learning to open lockers and what to expect. In April, all fifth graders will get a copy of their requested 6th grade courses, along with their Transportation Form for next year. Parents can review and sign both these forms, and return them to their child’s teacher. Parents’ questions can be directed to Mrs. McElvenny.

Music Notes
March was such a great month I don't know if I can wait to see what April has in store. Madagascar is sure to make a hit on April 5th and the 8th. Don't forget Monday no ticket is required. Please arrive early to get the best seat possible.
- K4/5 Are still working on our Quaver lessons. Don't forget your child can go to Quaver at home by visiting www.quavermusic.com. Once there, enter the code that was given earlier this year.
- 1st Grade is doing an amazing job in the keyboard lab. I'm so proud of all their hard work.
- 2nd is learning how to read music on the staff. Don't forget they can play games on Quaver to help them learn their notes faster.
- 3rd-5th are off to a great start on the Recorder. I already have a 3rd grader to pass their fourth song. That is amazing!
Chorus News: Once Madagascar is finished on Monday, April 8th, we are finished. No rehearsal on April 9th. Please get all the costumes washed and returned no lather than Monday, April 15th. It has been a great year with this large group of 60 kids. I'm so proud of each of them.
