Encore Updates
for the week of October 10-14
Happy Fall!
Students may visit the Book Fair one of three ways:
- During their scheduled Media/Makerspace Encore Rotation. Check with your students' teacher to confirm which day is their scheduled time!
- Before (7:20-7:50) or during school with an adult.
- During our Family Night from 5-7PM on October 12th.
During their Encore Rotation to Media/Makerspace students will be shopping for books or creating a "Wish List" of books they would like from the Book Fair.
We are still looking for volunteers for the Book Fair! Contact Marli Boyd for more information.
We will not be checking out books from the Media Center this week.
Also check out our Donors Choose page to help our students grow!

W.R. Odell Primary School
In PE students are continuing to working on cooperation! We have been discussing different aspects of working together as a team, such as, listening to one another, communicating ideas and allowing everyone to help out! We have already completed a variety of activities and games that help the students work on their cooperative skills!
**Reminder: Please make sure students are prepared for PE by wearing sneakers, tennis shoes, or something they are able to run in! Thank you!!**
Currently, in Art class, we are continuing our cultural projects. Kindergarten students are handprint painting a HUGE American flag and the Olympic flag. First graders are looking at Chinese lanterns and parasols and are printing cherry blossoms for their backgrounds. Second graders are readying their Indian elephants for the annual Elephant parade and festival, celebrated in Jaipur.
Our students at Odell Primary experienced an excellent performance by the National Children's Theatre this past Tuesday. Duke Energy sponsors this free presentation to teach children about the ways they can help save energy and resources. As a way to continue helping the students learn, talk to them and work with them at your home to turn off the lights when not in use, turn off the water when not directly in use, etc. Remember to log in to www.myenergykit.org to sign up for your free energy kit. You can also click on the "education" tab to find activities to do with your child. With every 100 free energy kits that our school orders, we will receive $250. Currently our school has ordered around 50 kits. Together let's help our school to save thousands of energy kilowatts!
