Message from Ms. Gullo
Dear Yellow Springs Eagles Families,
We made it! It is hard to believe we are near the conclusion of the 2020-2021 school year! I thank you ALL for your partnership in your child’s/children’s education during this year of virtual learning, hybrid learning, and in-person learning. The education of our students this year was truly a team effort and the YSES staff thank you all for your support. We know it was not easy!
As the school year comes to a close, I would like to recognize two staff members, Mr. Jim Foit, physical education teacher, and Ms. Cindy Small, fifth grade teacher. Mr. Foit and Ms. Small are retiring at the conclusion of the school year and we want to thank them for their years of dedication to the Yellow Springs community. We wish them both the best and much happiness in their retirement.
School Chrome Book collection: As the school year concludes, we need to collect school-issued Chrome Books. Thank you to our kindergarten and first grade students/families for returning Chrome Books. On Monday, June 14th, we ask students in 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade to please return school-issued Chrome books. 5th grade students will return their Chrome books on Thursday, June 17th . If your child has a hot spot, that must be returned as well. Please send all devices with the charger and case (if included). Our virtual students may return devices, chargers, hotspots, and cases on Thursday, June 17th from 2:30pm to 4:00pm and Friday, June 18th from 9:00am to 12:00pm.
Please note that Wednesday, June 16th is a two-hour early dismissal day. All-virtual students will meet with the teacher following their regular Wednesday schedule until 12:00pm. Specials assignments will be posted in Schoology for all-virtual students. There will be no instruction/Google Meets after 12:00. In-person students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade will be completing paper/pencil activities, including specials assignments, that will be sent home Tuesday, June 15th (for most students). The students’ last day of school is Thursday, June 17th . Dismissal will be at 2:00 PM.
Report cards will be sent home with students on Thursday, June 17th. Virtual students may pick up their report cards during chromebook collection on Thursday and Friday. Any report cards not picked up by noon on Friday will be mailed. All FCPS devices and chargers must be returned in order to receive a report card.
Looking towards next school year: We welcome Mrs. Hannah Feldman to Yellow Springs! Mrs. Feldman will serve the Yellow Springs community as principal. She and Dr. Swire look forward to leading our Eagles during the 2021-2022 school year. Classroom assignments will be communicated during the summer. Mark your calendars for Meet n’ Greet on Monday, August 16th 4:00 – 5:00 PM and Back to School Night on Thursday, September 2nd 5:00-6:30 PM.
In closing, it has truly been my pleasure to serve the Yellow Springs community these past two years. Together, we have SOARed!
All my best, Sue
