The Summer Slide
The weather is warm and kids are officially out of school. Summer is a time to enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring our amazing state of Michigan. It is also a time when learning tends to take a break too. The Summer Slide is the tendency for students to lose some of the achievement gains they made during the previous school year. The National Summer Learning Association says that students can lose up to two months worth of skills in mathematics and reading during the lazy days of summer. Below you will find fun apps, resources, and activities to avoid the "Brain Drain" summer can bring along with warm weather.
There are many useful resources available just a click away to help prevent the summer slide from taking over. Here are few websites and links that make learning fun and light-hearted during long days of summer. Have fun exploring!
