Don't Forget Clearances for 2016. . .
I wanted to reiterate some important information that has been shared throughout the past year in preparation for the 2016-2017 school year regarding clearances.
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child’s welfare or has direct volunteer contact with children.
Direct Volunteer Contact – The care, supervision, guidance, or control of children and routine interaction with children
Routine Interaction – Regular and repeated contact that is integral to a person’s employment or volunteer responsibilities.
Person Responsible for Child’s Welfare – Person who provides permanent or temporary care, supervision, mental health diagnosis or treatment, training or control of a child in lieu of parental care, supervision and control. Includes any such person who has direct or regular contact with a child through any program, activity, or service sponsored by a school, for-profit organization or religious or other not for profit organization.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district web site by clicking here.

Race 4 Ed Volunteers Needed
The Home & School Association could really use your help with all of the pre-Race for Education activities. We are looking for help on 21st and/or the 22nd to copy labels for mailers. If you are interested and would like to see the available times, please click here.
We also have another opportunity that involves writing out mailers for our younger students. If you are interested, and can spare some time on September 27th or 28th, please click here to see the available times.
A Home and School Representative will be on site during all volunteer times slots. Contact Wanda Rumford with any questions.
Box Tops Are Back!!!
Please continue to send in all box tops to your child's classroom to be placed in the designated collection bin.
For families that are new to Box Tops. They are little labels found on different products anywhere from taco seasoning to tissue paper. They just need to be cut out in their entirety (usually a small square) and turned into Titus. Most families use a small plastic sandwich bag to collect them and then simply send the bag into school. Unfortunately, box tops do expire so please check the expiration dates and submit them as often you are able.
For each box top the school submits we receive $0.10. This adds up quickly! Please reach out to your friends and family to collect also. It's a terrific way to help our school; for more information please click here.
A group of fantastic volunteers helps count all those little box tops and bundle them for submission each month. The counting takes place one day during the week generally from 9:00 AM-11:30 AM. If you would be interested in helping to count please email Melissa Kenyon for more information.
