Hoboken High School Weekly Update

October 18, 2019
On Wednesday, students in grades 9-11 sat for the PSAT exam. The PSAT is the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test and is designed to help students practice for the SAT. It is also used to determine eligibility for scholarships awarded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The PSAT gives students an opportunity to understand the standardized test experience. Please understand that their scores will not be sent to colleges and do not impact their high school grades, but serve as a way for you to identify your child’s strengths and areas in need of improvement.
This weekend is a big one at HHS. It is our homecoming weekend. We have our pep rally during the afternoon, and tonight is the homecoming football game against Verona. But the highlight is our Homecoming Dance that is sponsored by the Class of 2020. The dance starts at 8:00 pm and students will dance the night away. I will be sharing some photos in next week's Update.
On Wednesday, October 23rd, we will host our annual college fair for our junior and senior classes. With over 40 colleges and universities in attendance, students will have the opportunity to visit, speak with representatives, and gather pertinent information from each college. For seniors, this will assist them in making their final choices, but for our junior class this is the beginning of their search. That evening, we will host our Showcase of Excellence. This event is open to all prospective students and families from our community. Families have the opportunity to meet faculty, staff, and students, hear about our exciting programs, and sit in on a mini-lesson or two. Please share the attached flyer to help spread the word.
Our Week of Respect was extended due to last week's rain. This Tuesday, members of the Hispanic Culture Club, National Honor Society, Student Council, Agape Club, and GSA brought sidewalk chalk to Brandt and had a blast writing loving messages and drawing pictures with our future Redwings.
