Be careful with winter allergy and sinus symptoms.
Please note that if you have gotten sick over the holidays, you could be reacting to indoor allergens: especially if you developed a cold and the symptoms just don't seem to want to go away. Dust mites, animal danders and at this time of the year- mold spores commonly cause symptoms. If you were in an area with live Christmas trees and developed symptoms, you could be allergic to mold spores. When you bring an outdoor tree indoors, the warm air will cause molds to release their spores into the air. This could bother you not only in your home but also in places that you visit, such as homes of friends and family, malls, and stores or churches. If allergy symptoms are acting up, avoiding exposure is the best strategy. Consider testing to figure out what is bothering you.
Also, now is a good time to think of anticipatory treatment. If you have had spring symptoms (April-May, sneezy, itchy nose or eyes) in the past, consider being evaluated for grass pollen allergy. There are new treatments where you can take rapid melt tablets daily under the tongue and reduce your symptoms. The time to start this treatment is January and February. Think ahead and call us now.
