Report to Parents: Helping Children Understand Autism
Buckingham is proud to host one of Central Bucks's regional Autistic Support programs for Kindergarten through sixth grade. This month's Report to Parents, "Helping Children Understand Autism," suggests an appropriate approach for parents to speak to their children about Autism.
"Since one in 68 children are diagnosed with Autism, your child is likely to encounter a number of children with the disorder. How you respond to your child's questions significantly impacts your child's understanding of this complex disorder, as well as his or her acceptance of individuals with different abilities. Here are some suggestions to help your child understand autism."

Important Announcements
From the Buckingham Library: Expanding our Circulation!
The library is open for circulation!
There are lots of new books and titles ordered at the end of the last school year that have been processed and ready for eager hands to hold! Mrs. Kraus has been sharing the new titles and series with students in order to ACTIVATE those imaginative minds!
Students will be able to choose books during their class-time as we initiate our reading throughout the school-year!
- Mrs. Kraus, Buckingham Library
From the QUEST Department: 4C's
Buckingham students have hit the ground running with their problem solving strategies in QUEST since the start of the school year! Our student engineers have reviewed the importance of GRIT while using the engineer design-process to solve challenges. The next step for the students is to understand how the 21st century learning skills of the 4C’s: Collaboration, Creativity, Communication and Critical Thinking, will be intertwined in all that we do in QUEST this year!

From the Physical Education Department: "GA-GA-GO!"
These are the words you'll hear on the Buckingham playground as students began the new school year learning the rules in Physical Education class for the new GAGA Pit! During the first two week’s students and staff reviewed the Buckingham GAGA constitution, which consists of the 10 rules we will be using to promote fun and fair play during all recess and PE classes. Students have had a blast and will continue to "GO GAGA" all year long!

Students and Microsoft 365!
This year in library, Mrs. Kraus and the Buckingham Staff will be working with the 4th, 5th, and 6th graders using Microsoft Office 365. Students will quickly see the advantages of sharing documents, accessing Microsoft software applications online and working collaboratively.
In our first library classes, students typed what they did over the summer in a "shared" Word document. They were amazed that they could see their classmates’ responses in real time while they were typing! It then created student-to-student connections about similar vacation spots and sparked questions about each other’s responses. The students are mostly looking forward to using it for group PowerPoint projects.
