Welcome to the 2021-22 School year!
Census Update
From Our New Principal
“Together, We Succeed.” are the three words that drew me to St. Johns. I am incredibly excited to join the St. Johns community as the new high school principal. From my early interactions with several district staff members and teachers, I can already tell that I have joined a high performing team. The staff has been incredibly welcoming.
Educationally, I hold a Master’s degree and two Bachelor’s degrees, all from Michigan State. They are in Educational Administration, Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy, and Spanish with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, respectively. I have spent the entirety of my professional career in Byron Area Schools, which is located in southeastern Shiawassee County. I was a teacher, coach, advisor, union leader, dean of students, and athletic director at various points in my career there, but most recently served as Principal of the High and Middle Schools.
Personally, I live with my wife, Paula, who is also an educator, two children, Jack (7) and Max (4), and dog Bubba (11). We plan to relocate to the Lansing area in the near future. When I am not at work, I enjoy watersports of all kinds and being in/near water. I also enjoy running and cooking.
I look forward to getting to know all of you. My email is dobsonm@sjredwings.org. I will be relying on this great team to start the year, but if you see an unfamiliar face at a game or in the halls, feel free to stop and introduce yourself.
