About Ms. Katalinic
Ms. Katalinic received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Lenoir-Rhyne University. From there she received a Masters of Arts in Community Counseling with a School Licensure.
She has been working as an elementary level school counselor for 3 years now. This is my second year in Greenville County and my second year at Berea Elementary. I am very honored to be a Bullpup!
I have one dog named Bentley, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends.
Vision Statement
The vision of Berea Elementary School’s Comprehensive School Counseling Program is that every student will acquire the academic, career and personal/social skills needed to develop and reach their greatest educational potential in the workplace. Each student will grow into responsible, competent and contributing citizens to their community.
Beliefs:
The school counselor at Berea Elementary:
· Believes every student has potential of success in each aspect of their life.
· Believes that with support from teachers, family, and the community, students are able to achieve success.
· Believes that each child is unique and should be given support to ensure all of their needs ar met to ensure success regardless of ethnicity, culture, racial or sexual differences.
· Believes that each student should have access to a trained Master’s degree level, state licensed professional counselor whom is in their school full time to deliver an effective comprehensive school counseling program.
The Comprehensive School Counseling Program at Berea Elementary:
· Is based on specified goals from data analysis and developmental student competencies for students across all grade levels.
· Is planned and coordinated with the advisory council consisting of teachers, administration, parents and community representatives based on data from the previous year as well as the present needs of the school.
· Uses resources in the community as well as statistics within the school to develop, deliver and evaluate appropriate programs.
· Is evaluated by a counseling supervisor based on specific goals for the program development.
· Is involved in monitoring students’ progress and success.
The school counselor at Berea Elementary:
· Abides by the professional school counseling ethics put forth by the American School Counseling Association.
· Participates in professional development activities which are essential in maintaining and further developing the comprehensive school counseling program.
Berea Elementary CSCP Mission Statement
The mission of Berea Elementary School Counseling program is to help all students establish their unique academic, career and personal goals to be able to reach their full potential. The Berea Elementary School Counselor meets the needs of the students through helping students overcome challenges which can affect their learning and development. The School Counselor fosters a safe and all inclusive school through advocacy and ensuring that all students have equal opportunity and access to curriculum, resources and support. The school counselor collaborates with staff and families to meet the needs of students individually. She also collaborates with community members through the school and counseling program planning processes. The school counseling program prepares all students to be successful career driven individuals whom are responsible global citizens in an ever changing society.
The Berea Elementary School Counseling program maintains confidentiality of their students through having a good working relationship with students, parents and members of the school. Every effort is made to protect parent and student privacy rights except in situations regarding safety (a harm to self or others), legal issues and professional responsibilities as stated by the American School Counseling Association’s Ethical Standards for School Counselors.
