VOLUNTEERING AT CCS
Our Volunteer Orientation Party was a great success. Our thanks to all our families who participated, the PTO for all of the goodies and the Shelburne Police Department for their assistance with fingerprinting.
For those who were unable to make it and would like to become a volunteer to assist our dedicated teachers as we support our students in the classroom, after school or take our students off campus for new experiences, please contact Cindy LaWare in our front office at claware@cssu.org or 425-2771. She has all the information and will do her best to expedite the process.

A STUDENT PERSPECTIVE ON PERSONALIZED LEARNING
Recently, Paige Thibault, a former CCS student, came to speak to the middle level teachers during their professional development time about her experience with the personalized learning process. Paige, who is now a sophomore at CVU, related how she has taken the opportunity to have a personalized pathway to achieving the graduation standards. While the process hasn’t always been easy or smooth, Paige took the initiative to take an active role in designing learning experiences that were closely related to her interests, talents, and passions. Paige explained how she integrates personalized learning projects in the NEXUS program at CVU with her other courses. The middle level teachers at CCS were interested in Paige’s experiences as we continue toward the implementation of the personalized learning process at CCS.
STUDENT ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERS
The following students attended, then presented at, the Lewis Creek Association Watershed meeting at CCS yesterday afternoon - also attending were the South Chittenden River Watch, and LaPlatte Watershed Partnership.
Students who gave tours to the 50+ members were Alysanna Lasek, Heidi Beal, Kosi Thurber, Isabella Hackerman, Finnegan Mittelstadt, and Chloe Silverman. The tours showed the areas on our campus that will be engineered to mitigate stormwater run-off to positively impact MaCabe's Brook, the LaPlatte River, and ultimately Lake Champlain. The 6 students volunteered their time yesterday to speak to about their work as 6th graders with "Ahead of the Storm" and Malone & MacBroom engineers.
Special guest speaker was Lesley-Ann Dupigny-Giroux, Vermont State Climatologist and UVM Geography Department Chair. Also in attendance was Jessica Louisos, engineer from Malone & MacBroom.
