National Civics Bee
In Mr. Hanson's Global Perspectives class, kiddos write essays and he encouraged them to participate in the National Civics Bee.
Two essays were recognized and selected for moving forward.
Troy took third place at the county level and is moving onto State. He had a lot of fun and is very stoked! We also had one student out sick and she would have participated.

6th Grade WARRIOR PE News
Happy Sunny Friday! Hope all had a great week…I sure did! Last week I introduced Slam Ball using a Spike Ball net. Slam Ball is a great lead up game for Spike Ball. The objective of Slam Ball is to throw a ball off the middle of the next and have your opponent attempt to catch the ball before it hits the ground. The skill focus for the game is throwing for accuracy, catching and performing net game strategies and tactics to be successful. After two days, we progressed to Spike Ball. This game is a great family yard game. The skills for Spike Ball are serving the ball on to the net using a flat hand, above and below chest passes also using a flat hand. Spike Ball is a tough game to learn regarding the hand eye coordination skills but I was very proud of all my students' progress this week learning Spike Ball.

EMS Adapted PE News
Happy Sunny Friday! We have been very busy in our gym learning new skills and creating success for all of us. The students were taught striking with a short handle paddle. We started with striking a balloon with our hand and then we progressed using a short handle paddle. Then we went into foot dribbling and passing an object. I put colored rubber bracelets around the students' strong foot to use as a visual where to contact the object when they were foot dribbling and passing. This week our skill focus was jumping with two feet. Some of the activities we participated in were jumping in and out of a hoop, jumping over a thunder stick while it is moving and creating shapes and numbers with a jump rope on the floor. I am very proud of these students' progress with striking with a short handle paddle and jumping with two feet.
