Eagles Exclamation
March 22nd, 2024
A Message from the Principal
Dear PV Eagle Parents/Guardians:
As we approach the much-awaited Spring Break, I wanted to take a moment to wish each of you a restful and rejuvenating time with your families. This break provides an opportunity for our students to recharge and return with renewed energy for the remainder of the school year.
As we head into the final stretch, we have much to achieve in the fourth quarter. Our state testing, the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR), begins April 8th. The IAR is a crucial evaluation that helps us understand our students' progress and areas where they may need additional support. As a measure of our student’s understanding of the Illinois State Standards, we utilize the data from the test to help drive our instruction in the classroom. Please encourage your student to put forth their best effort on these tests.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. Together, we can ensure that every student at Prairie View Middle School reaches their full potential.
Wishing you all a safe, enjoyable, and enriching Spring Break!
Warm regards,
Maura R. Baskovich
Principal
Spring Break
IAR Test
This year, the IAR will be administered to Prairie View students April 8-9th (ELA) & April 15-17th (Math), following spring break. It's crucial that your student(s) arrive to school on time, as the test will begin promptly at 8:45 AM each day. Each test session will last until approximately 11:00 AM each testing day so please refrain from scheduling medical appointments for your students during that timeframe. Additionally, please ensure they get a good night's sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast to help them perform their best. IAR participation also impacts Prairie View's overall rating on the Illinois Report Card. Thank you for your support in preparing our students for success!
Students will be rewarded with EYE-PASSES for the following:
- being on time
- having a book to read
- using a sharpened pencil
- using scratch paper for both Math & Reading sections
- coming with a fully charged iPad
- demonstrating respectful behavior during and after testing
Reminder: No Apple/smart watches are allowed during testing.

Music in Our Schools Showcase
March has been a very busy month for our musicians! The Music In Our Schools Showcase featured the Combined Grissom and Prairie View Choruses as well as the 7th Grade Concert Band. Both groups sounded excellent. Congratulations go out to our Cadet, Concert and Symphonic Bands! All three bands received superior ratings for their performances at the IGSMA District Contest at Central Middle School. They will move on to perform at the State Contest on April 27th at Hinsdale Central High School. Finally, a highly select group of our 8th grade band students performed at the SWIC Honor Band Festival at Conrady J.H.S. and were featured as soloists throughout the performance As you can see, we have definitely made the most out of Music In Our Schools Month!
Mr. Szczasny, Mr. Hodges and Mr. Forlenza would like to thank our students, parents, colleagues, administrators and school board for their continued support for our music education programs!
