Students & Faculty Have Much to be Thankful For

Mrs. Koch - I am thankful that I live in a nation where females are free to get an education and free to choose their own paths in life.Sarah Grace B - I am thankful for my family, friends, and the privileges I have.
Riley R & Sara O - They are thankful for their teachers.
Hunter C & Lauren B - They are thankful for their friends.
Caleb B- I am thankful for the right to pursue happiness.
Ms. Doolittle - I am thankful to be the counselor at Southwood with awesome students and a wonderful faculty.
Max R - I am thankful for the strings program.
Mrs. Gilbert - I am thankful to God for allowing me to spend my days here on earth with my family and awesome coworkers.
Elena P - I am thankful for the Thanksgiving feast with turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing.
Morgan D & Kamora E - They are thankful for family, friends, roofs over their heads, and food in their mouths.
Miss Paradis- I am thankful that we live in a nation in which everyone has access to education.

Mrs. McDowell - I am thankful for my family and for my friends who are like family. It is always a blessing to have people who listen and understand (and make you laugh too!)

Media Center Book Club News
Both the 7th and 8th grade book clubs will meet Tuesday, November 24th instead of Wednesday because of Thanksgiving break. The 8th grade book club has an author Skype scheduled for Wednesday, December 2nd with D.J. MacHale, author of SYLO. Mrs. Spencer is very excited that our book club students are getting a chance to talk to the authors of the books they are reading and enjoying.

United Way Drive Update
7th Grade won the penny wars with -10,689, 8th Grade came in 2nd with -11,906, and 6th Grade came in 3rd with-13,093. A total of $536.44 was collected for the local United Way.
Southwood Academy's United Way drive continues with an iPad giveaway! Students purchase $1 raffle tickets (photo above) for a random drawing which will take place during MM Tuesday, November 24th! Thank you to all students and faculty who participated in our United Way drive! The United Way does so much to help those in need.
