"The Hobbit" Infographic Project
Created by the Van Meter 5th Graders
One of my favorite collaborative projects this year has been "The Hobbit Infographic Project" that I did with the 5th graders and their teachers.
After their teacher, Janelle Thompson, read The Hobbit to them as a class, we sat down and talked about the best way for them to showcase their own retelling of the book. We decided to use the Web 2.0 tool Piktochart, which allows users to create amazing infographics.
Also by using a Web 2.0 tool like Piktochart, the students would also be able to publish their work online....sharing it with their classmates, parents, our school community, and the world.
Janelle and I taught together throughout this project. We used "The Hobbit Infographic Project" Google Doc with the students so they could work through the project requirements, organize their thoughts, and successfully create an infographic.
The students had a fun time creating their infographics.
The love for the book and for the experience of reading it together as a class really shows through in the work of the 5th graders.
You can read more about "The Hobbit Infographic Project" on the Van Meter Library Voice which is posted below.
