Vista Meadows Academy
May 2020
Dear VMA Students & Families,
Report cards for the third quarter marking period have been mailed out this week. If you wish to conference with your child's teacher, please email them to set up a phone conference over the next couple weeks.
We also want to provide you with additional detailed information about the continued school closure and support for our continuous learning plan. We will regularly update our community through email updates and posts on our website and social media. In addition, teachers will continue regular communication with students. We will follow this structure for the remainder of the school year.
We are continuing the process of providing more structure in terms of dedicated office hours for our classrooms. You can find each teachers virtual office hours included in this newsletter. Seminar teachers post assignments Monday morning and they are due Sunday by 11:59pm. Students should be working to complete these items regularly. Students are encouraged to attend the teacher's virtual office hours or reach out for additional assistance as needed.
We are still trying to reach several students & families. We ask that each family complete the survey located in this newsletter so that we can obtain your updated contact information and valuable feedback that will ensure your student is successful during this COVID-19 closure.
Stay tuned to our website, social media, and blasts. If you have questions, you can call the school at 313-240-4347 or forward your questions to your child's seminar teacher. We appreciate your continued patience and support as we work to ensure that we do what is best for our students, families, and community.
Stay Healthy,
Dr. Ticheal Jones (interim school leader)
Stay Home-Stay-Safe Student of the Month
Diamond is our Stay Home-Stay-Safe Student of the Month. She has completed Four classes online since the order was handed down by our Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Out of those Four classes, she has received credit for three of them. But not only has she completed this work for herself, but she has taken a leadership role with her younger siblings by helping them learn the transition of going from traditional learning to virtual learning. She has gotten them all organized and they have adopted her routine of getting online daily and getting their work done. Diamond's mother says she has been a big help and she is so proud of her daughter. An extra shout out goes to Ms. Harris, Mr. Tillman and the little Harris children for their hard work and the part they played in this wonderful story. The biggest shout out goes to Diamond Harris for being Vista Meadows Academy's Student of the Month of April 2020.
