Project-Based Learning: 5th Grade Native American Research
As part of their curriculum, the 5th grade students at Pine Run Elementary researched five Native American regions: Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest and Plains. Through their research, they learned about their lifestyles, cultures, traditions, and beliefs. All of this research culminated in a Native American Day where students presented this information to their parents using hand-made artifacts, PowerPoint presentations, Jeopardy games, skits, essays and posters. In addition, their teachers, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Decker, Mrs. Strader, and Mrs. Pluta used the “Green Screen App” to photograph these eager students using an authentic regional backdrop.
