Helping Parents Understand Digital Literacy & Citizenship
ONE VISION: Where ALL students learn, grow, and succeed
ISTE Student Standards
The International Society for Technology in Education has just revamped their Student Standards and are working on updating Teacher Standards. They are the basis for TEKS technology standards.
Technology TEKS
Digital Citizenship
The student practices safe, responsible, legal, and ethical behavior while using digital tools and resources.
District Filters
We have a district filter to filter malicious and inappropriate content that works with our Staff and Student networks.
GoGuardian
This adds an additional layer of protection for “time wasting” sites.
Classlink
Provides students with safe search options for on and off campus with library resources
Teachers and Parents Working Together
Remind
Formerly Remind 101, this is still a popular go-to app for teachers to keep up communications with parents. With new features like the translation and event options, it is still a great way to keep up with your student's progress and goings-on in the classroom.
Google Classroom
This school year, Google Classroom added an "invite guardians" feature. If the teacher has a good contact e-mail for you, you can receive reports on student progress in a teacher's Classroom.
It might not be the students first choice in a social media driven world. However, it is still a very reliable one if you simply want to contact your student's teachers and see how s/he is progressing in class.

Secure Password Protection
The district standard is a 4 x 4 method. Four letters & four numbers in a particular order known only to the student. This is actually a great way to create passwords in the "real world" as well.
