Take Time To SHINE! Bucket Fillers 2.0
Hi Luce Families,
Over the summer a group of our Luce Crew worked together to reimagine our Bucket Fillers student recognition program. This year, as we move back to all students in the building, we thought it was important to really focus on what it means to SHINE! And, more importantly, to TAKE TIME TO SHINE!
Beginning on Monday, students who are engaging in expected behaviors will earn a Shine Ticket to place in their classroom raffle jar. Each Friday, their teacher will draw two raffle winners. Those winners will come to the office for a prize and a photo to be included in the Weekly Smore.
As a school, we will be keeping track of how many SHINE Tickets we hand out each week. When we reach certain benchmarks as a school, we will celebrate with a Whole School Celebration!
We’re excited about this new way of recognizing students and can’t wait to see how everyone Shines this year!
Nurse Bonner's Updates
Welcome back Luce students and families!
The staff at the Luce health office are so excited to have you with us this year. Many of you know that our wonderful Nurse Warren, who has been with the Luce Crew for the past 21 years, will be retiring at the end of September. While we are sad to see her go, we wish her all the best in her new adventures. My name is Nurse Bonner, and I will be working with Nurse Warren to ensure a smooth transition for all of your kids. Please send Nurse Warren your well wishes this month, and I look forward to seeing your happy faces around school!

Room Parents
We are currently looking for volunteers to act as Room Parents for each classroom. Most years, every classroom at the Luce has designated room parents arranged through and supervised by CAPT. Communication with the teacher will be necessary for determining specific responsibilities for individual classrooms. Traditionally, responsibilities have included assisting the classroom teacher in planning and coordinating special classroom events & celebrations and communicating with parents about needed supplies. Additionally, room parents also communicate with families to disseminate CAPT, Luce School Council, and other Canton Public School information. Room parents may also work with families to obtain needed volunteers for school and CAPT events. Individual teachers determine the amount of involvement Room Parents have in each classroom.
If you would like to be considered for this position, please complete the information below and return the form to school with your child, or you may email the information below to the Luce CAPT (lucecapt@gmail.com). Room parents will be chosen by lottery, and parents will be notified of the assignments. The deadline to fill out the form is Monday, September 20.

Family Photo Day
Fall Family Photo Day is back! This year's location is Pequitside Farm, and you have 2 dates to choose from, Saturday, October 9th and 16th. The Luce CAPT has partnered with professional photographer and Luce parent Cynthia Rosina to create a fun family fundraiser. For more information, please see our flyer.
Friendship Directory
Every year, the Dean S. Luce C.A.P.T. creates a Friendship Directory which includes a class list of all of the students in your child’s class and grade. This directory will allow you to find the names and addresses of your child's classmates for birthday parties, homework questions, or to connect for a play date. It serves as a means of connecting with classmates easier; however, having your child’s information printed in this directory is completely optional.
You can either submit the form online or print it out and send it to the school. Please fill out this form by Friday, September 17th.
