Parent Square Messaging
KSD 140 is now using ParentSquare for email, text, and voice messaging! All District and principal communications will be sent via ParentSquare.
This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourages greater engagement and connection with D140. It provides an efficient way for District administrators and school principals to:
Send District and school information via email, text, and app notification
Share pictures, files, and calendar items
Send attendance notifications
and much more . . . all in one centralized place!
In addition to several enhanced messaging features, this new platform will allow us to communicate in multiple languages. If you wish to change the language of the notifications you are receiving from District 140, please contact your school office or fill out the form located at ksd140.org/contact-us
For even greater convenience, download the ParentSquare app (available for free for iOS and Android devices). This app centralizes District and school communications pertaining to your student(s) and allows parents/guardians to customize their notification settings.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Arrival
- Students should not arrive before 7:45. We do not have staff available to supervise students prior to 7:45.
- The tardy bell rings at 8:00. If you arrive after 8:00, you will need to walk your child to the office and sign them in. We want to make sure we have everyone accounted for.
- Please remember to pull all the way forward in the drop off lanes in the mornings. This helps to alleviate cars backing up onto 88th Avenue and O'Brien Drive.
- Children should exit the car on the passenger side of the car.
- If you need to get out of the car to assist your child, please park in the parking lot and walk them to the sidewalk. The drop off lane is for drop and go only. It helps the arrival process run smoothly and quickly when this rule of thumb is followed. We appreciate your help on this.
Dismissal
Thank you for working with our staff to keep our students safe and help the dismissal process run smoothly.
- When you arrive, please pull all the way forward in the lane that you choose to park in. Do not stop in the middle of the lane and expect others to pull around you. We are trying to fit as many cars (as safely possible) in the lots.
- FOR O'BRIEN DRIVE... Do not block Lanes 3, 4, and 5 when you park. Again, we need to keep access to these lanes open so we can fit as many cars as possible in the lot.
- When the lot is full, please pull to the side of 88th Avenue or O'Brien Drive and wait for Lane 1 to be dismissed. Once it is dismissed, we will have the overflow cars fill in Lane 1 to pick up their students.
- FOR O'BRIEN DRIVE.... Per the Orland Hills Police and for the safety of the students, we are not allowed to dismiss students to cars that are parked on the street. There are no sidewalks on O’Brien Drive and it is not safe for students to be walking in the street. If you are on O’Brien Drive because the lot is full, please stay in your car and pull into the lot when it is open. PLEASE do not get out of you car and walk your child on the street. We do our very best to get Lane 1 released first.
If we work together and follow the dismissal procedures, we usually have all 400+ students SAFELY dismissed from the building and on their way home in less than 10 minutes. We truly appreciate you working with us on this. Safety is at the heart of all that we do during dismissal. Thank you.
