Twin Peaks Middle School
Weekly RAM Newsletter
A Brief Note from Dr. Burke
Dear Ram families,
We have a unique schedule this week. First, tomorrow there is no school as we have our first district-wide Professional Growth Day. Tuesday through Friday are minimum days due to Parent/Teacher Conferences. We will dismiss at 12:40pm. Because we are on a minimum day schedule, this Thursday will not be a late start day. School will begin promptly at 8:27 am. Traffic will be particularly congested on Tuesday, since Tierra Bonita releases at 12:25pm. Please plan accordingly and avoid parking in their lot as they need that space for their families.
The first parent education event hosted this year by the Twin Peaks PTSA was a huge success. Ace Tutoring worked with nearly 100 students, parents, and guardians last week and discussed Study Skills 101 – The Basics which included: how to maximize your one’s learning potential, what are study skills, how to take effective notes, how to get organized and utilize a planner, and what does studying really look like. If you weren’t able to attend, it’s not too late. The second session is offered on Wednesday, Oct. 9th and Thursday, Oct. 10th in the Twin Peaks library from 6-7:30pm and will focus on Building your Skills which include: time management – the key to success, goal setting with SMART goals, how to thoroughly prepare for and take tests, and how to deal with stress and anxiety. To register for this FREE event please call 858-748-8873 or email acepoway@acetutoring.com. A special thank you to Derrick Bensen, the parent education chair, and Liz Andruss, the PTSA president, for bringing this opportunity to the Twin Peaks community.
This week Federal Survey Forms will be coming home with your student. Please take a moment to complete, sign and return the form before Friday, October 18th. It is mandatory that the forms be signed and returned whether or not the survey information is filled out. Your help with this is greatly appreciated, because it is tied to school funding.
Our 6th Grade Camp fundraiser begins this Tuesday. This is a great way for students to help offset the cost of camp. Students will receive all the details during their RAM class, so look for those materials coming home.
TPMS Choir is proud to introduce Mrs. Heidi Bartholomeusz as its new director. Mrs. Bartholomeusz wants any interested students to come check it out! Registration will be open for a couple more weeks - so if you want to see what choir will be like, come join them Thursday mornings at 7:45am in the Little Theater. We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, email TPMSchoirdirector@gmail.com
That’s it for now. I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday and remember it's a 3/5/1 day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Burke
