Welcome to the Prairie Point Panther Press!
Home and School President's Letter
Dear Prairie Point Parents and Staff,
April showers brings May Flowers! Well, we better have some amazing looking flower beds in May!
With your help and support, Home and School is honored to be able to assist our school each year. Each fall, Home and School holds their Panther Fitness Challenge as our school fundraiser. We have been so fortunate to raise large sums over the past few years. So why is this so important and where does the money go?
Our Home and School organization funds many events for our school and families. We also give back to our school to assist with the needs of the staff. For example, at the beginning of the school year, our staff receives over $1,700 in supply gift cards, helping them prepare for the new school year. We give over $3,000 to our specials (LRC, Art, etc.), so they are able to continue to offer so much to our students. And just this month, we gave out over $9,400 in grants to the individual grade levels as well as open grants to our support staff. For example, our third grade teachers ordered new materials to use in small groups and during stations that support our Common Core State Standards. Fourth grade ordered science videos and math book and games, again to enhance student awareness and learning. Our speech pathologists and reading specialists ordered new games and learning tools to help their students engage and achieve their goals.
Our students benefit through these grants, enriching their education and grade school experience. Without the support of our families and staff, we would not be able to make such an impact.
If you would like to learn more about what we do, please contact a member of the board and/or attend a home & school meeting. Our meetings are usually held on the first Thursday of each month, at 7:00pm, in the community room. Please check the marquee and Panther Press each week for confirmation.
Before I end, I want to say a few things about March events. Our annual variety show was a hit! For those of you who have never attended, you should. We have some talent at our school! Thank you to all who helped.
Our Father’s Forum committee sponsored a wonderful Morning with Mom. Moms enjoy a little extra time with their kids and the kids always have a good time. Thank you.
We have so many wonderful events in April and May. Please check in the Panther Press each week for upcoming dates and information.
Have a wonderful weekend.
