Monday, 4.5.21 - No School
Schedule for the week of 4.5.21
Return to full day at JE!
As you are likely aware, starting on 4.12.21 Jefferson is returning to a full day schedule along with the rest of D45. To view the hourly schedule we will be running, see the picture attached. Additionally, below are a few further insights regarding our in-person return structures.
- We have 68% of our students returning to in-person full day instruction and 32% of students staying home live-streaming into classes.
- The schedule attached will be our daily schedule Monday through Friday on regularly scheduled school days.
- All students in-person or live-streaming will report to Advisory at 8:30 daily and complete their day at 3:15.
- Students will attend all classes daily in-person as well as virtually. Students attending in-person must attend in-person regularly and are not allowed to switch to remote instruction without prior approval by administration. Students with high absences in-person may be subject to being switched to remote learning for the remainder of the quarter.
- There is no daily asynchronous learning time or expectations.
- There will be no dedicated time scheduled for academic supports and students are encouraged to seek additional support as needed from their teachers.
- Students in person will stay in one classroom for all their core classes (math, science, ELA, & SS). The core teachers will rotate into each class to provide them their instruction for the day.
- All classrooms will have 20 or less students in each adhering to the 3' to 6' guidelines for social distancing from the health department. In the event that a cohort has more than 20 students, the additional number of student(s) will rotate into an "overflow room" with a sub and attend their core classes virtually from the LRC for that day. The teachers will make sure to rotate students each day so the same students are not out of the classroom more than necessary.
- Lockers in the hallway will not be used. Students will keep their items at their desk at all times and are not sharing materials with anyone. It's critical that students bring their own materials daily. These include two pencils, eraser, pencil sharpener, pen, paper, notebook, headphones, calculator, and most importantly their fully charged Chromebook daily. Student must bring their Chromebooks fully charged each morning as there will be no chargers or loaners available at this time.
- All students and staff will adhere to wearing masks at all times on school property and buses as well as adhere to the 3' or greater social distancing.
- Students will remain in their cohorts of 20 or less as they travel to PE and Fine & Practical Arts classes.
- Students will have designated times for bathroom breaks during Math, ELA, Lunch, and on their way to/from PE/FPA. For the safety of students, bathroom breaks must be taken during these supervised times.
- Students will not be changing for PE and locker rooms will not be used. Students should wear comfortable clothing and footwear that will allow them to physically participate in the PE activities. All PE equipment will be disinfected between each class period.
- For the lunch periods students will sit at assigned seats 6' apart. Students may bring a lunch from home or one will be provided at no cost. The students will have the choice of vegetarian or non-vegetarian option. Salad bar, a-la carte, and other choice items will not be availlable due to safety guidelines. Students will remove their masks for eating and replace their mask when they are done eating. We are finalizing our lunch procedures to safely serve lunch and disinfect eating areas between lunches. Tentatively, we are planning on having half the students eat for 20 minutes while the other half has free time to socialize (3' apart with masks on) and then switch the two groups. Once we complete all the details, we will communicate this to students and families.
- Early Dismissals on 4.28.21 and 5.19.21 will remain the same as before with all students logging in remotely to Advisory at 8:30 and asynchronous work the remainder of the day.
More details to keep you informed will be included in next week's newsletter. Our office staff will communicate bus routes and times to all qualified bus riders this week. If you have any questions regarding our return plan, please call our office at 630.516.7800 during school ours. Additionally, please feel free to visit our D45 Return To School website for greater details.
