Buckingham Recognized for Recylcing!
Buckingham Elementary was presented the "Honorary Aveda Mission Leader" Award for our school community's efforts with recycling Bottle Caps through December 2015. As of this past December, recycling efforts of bottle caps has since been expanded in the Public's regular recyclables - however, Buckingham initiated this program back when bottle caps were collected through these separate voluntary recycling efforts.
On behalf of the Aveda Corporation, Buckingham would like to thank our school community for your efforts with this initiative. As a result of the participation of your school, we were able to:
Raise awareness to the plastics polluting our waterways, oceans and endangering marine life;
Provide education regarding the importance of recycling;
With vast numbers collecting, together we prevented approximately 145 million caps from entering our waterways, oceans and landfills over the course of our participation in the program.

Buckingham Students Collect Retired US Flags
Buckingham students, Andrew Verish - 4-Kirsche and Grace Cowhey - 5-Reigner, spent several weeks collecting expired US Flags so they will be properly retired at an upcoming Children of the American Revolution Society Event. The students collected over 25 US-flags total, which included the box at Buckingham as well as flags from friends and neighbors.
With the help of Buckingham Elementary, more than 165 United States flags have been collected over the last four years - and given the proper honor in special ceremonies!
The Towamencin Society, C.A.R. will retire this year's flags during a ceremony on Friday, July 1st. Thank you Andrew & Grace!
