HOMER HIGH-lights
Volume 1, Issue 1, November, 2012
Message from the Principal
One of our school improvement goals this year is to improve communication and collaboration between students, parents, and our community. PowerSchool has provided a means for students and parents to stay current with academic grades and attendance. Homer High also has a web page - http://homerhighschool.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us/wpmu/
However, some parents have asked that we provide a traditional newsletter format to highlight our students and increase communication. Hopefully this newsletter will accomplish this request. However, we would like your input. What do you want to know about? What would you like included in our newsletter? Let us know your thoughts as we focus on improved communication - dgee@kpbsd.k12.ak.us
Allan Gee, Ed.D.

Basketball Practice Begins November 26!
Interested in improving your basketball skills? See Coach Casseri about an upcoming camp being held at Skyview HS. Also, Homer High welcomes Coach Brent Keene as our Girls' Head Coach. Coach Keene has worked in our boys basketball program for a number of years and is moving over to the girls side. His knowledge of the game will prepare our students for a run at the 3A state championship! Go Mariners!
Ceramics Classes
One of the arts classes at Homer High. HHS offers a variety of career-technical courses for students to explore other career pathways - welding, construction, auto mechanics, small engine repair, natural resources technology, and drafting. Talk with the counselor if you are interested in the available courses as they prepare for second semester.
SKILLS USA Scholarships
As many of our seniors complete college scholarship applications, there are other post-secondary options available as our students consider their career choices. Take a look at some of the Career-Technical funds available:
