Lil Steamer Families --
I want to share the highlight of my week and one of the most heartwarming moments of the school year.
Monday, January 31 was the 100th day of school.
The Kindergarten Team put together a fashion show in which students wore wild clothing (100 stars, 100 buttons, etc.).
It was evident that these Kindergartners families helped put together some amazing designs and it was a labor of love.
In attendance with all of the Kindergarten classes were their 3rd grade buddies, the fashion show emcee Mr. Hafner's fifth grade homeroom, and several staff members.
The teachers kicked off the show by walking the runway as a demonstration for the littles. Next, student names were read and each student took their turn at flaunting their fashion items to the crowd.
Until one little boy was too shy and nervous. He was afraid to go up in front of the crowd; you could see his anxiety rising.
But a chant began with the older students. His 3rd grade buddy and his friends began chanting the anxious Kindergartner's name. He looked up and the chant grew louder.
By now, all of the 3rd graders and 5th graders had joined in. I joined in. Staff joined in. His name echoed in our gymnasium... and then it happened...
HE STOOD UP! The crowd erupted into a huge celebration as he overcame his fear and anxiety. His teacher held his hand and walked him to the start of the runway... his name was chanted again!
You could see his smiling eyes as he made his way down the runway. And you could hear the flutter of our staff's hearts as we realized the positive impact our students had just made for one little boy.
I made it a point to speak to as many of our older students who made that moment happen. I told them how proud I was and how they were such great Lil Steamers for helping out a student in need.
We can't change the world by ourselves. But we can make life better for others one moment at a time. At the Greatest Little Elementary School in the Universe that moment happened on Monday.
I'm sure excited to see what happens next week :)

Children need high quality time with parents and caregivers as it will have a positive effect on them as they grow. Here are some tips for spending high quality time with your children:
Have a daily “connect” time with your child. Do this face-to-face, if possible; but if this isn’t an option, create a routine for doing so in other ways, such as leaving a note in your child’s lunch bag, posting a note by his toothbrush, or writing an encouraging saying on a shared whiteboard in the house.
Create a special ritual for you and your child—something that can be done every day. For example, let your child choose and read one book with you at bedtime.
Tell your child you love him/her every day. Tell him/her how important they are to you and how they make you feel.
Morning Drop-Off Reminder
Please do not let your child(ren) out in the parking lot as it is difficult to see them as they walk through and it poses a safety risk to those kids.

What do YOU do with 100?
Students in 2B celebrated the 100th day of school with several different activities, and a cookie treat! The students wrote and illustrated a class about 100 things they would and would NOT like to have! In the afternoon the students went to different stations where they were challenged to create something using 100 items. What a fun day of celebrating! The students and I agreed that the best thing to celebrate was that we have been able to be at school for 100 days (and counting) this year! J

Want to Be More Involved with the Greatest Little Elementary School in the Universe?
If you are looking to get involved with the school or looking for ways you can help, the PTO is a great place to start. We are always looking for more individuals to help. The FES PTO was organized to promote and enhance the educational experience for every child. Our goal is to improve the quality of education provided and enrich the school through volunteerism, financial and organizational support. The PTO has helped the school in many capacities, from helping raise a majority of the funds for our new playground, funding field trips, classroom extras, providing meals for teachers during parent teacher conferences and many other various things. Our next meeting is March 1, at 6 pm, we would love to see you there.
The PTO will have some vacancies to fill for the 2022-2023 school year as well, we are seeking a new president or co-presidents, along with more members. If you have any questions please reach out to Elise Vogel, send our Facebook page (Fulton PTO) a message or email fultonelempto@gmail.com
