A Look Inside Our Preschool World
Multicultural Feast
Last week, MSELC at Rue hosted their Annual Multicultural Feast. Each family contributed by bringing a dish from their country. The students decorated the event with flags, banners
and posters representing their culture. The guests included Moms, Dads, Siblings, Grandparents and Nannies. It was a great experience of sharing and celebrating diversity.
Community Helpers
As we begin our “Community Helpers” theme in our classrooms, a Hoboken Firefighter came to visit our school located at Mile Square Early Learning Center at the St. Francis site. Firefighter Nico Ratto taught us about what it is like to be a firefighter and about fire safety. Firefighter Ratto helped the children become more comfortable around emergency responders in uniform such as showing and explaining each piece of his uniform. He put on each piece individually to slowly introduce the entire suit to the students to avoid them from being nervous and afraid. In addition, Firefighter Nico Ratto had students come up and demonstrate “Stop, Drop, and Roll.” To conclude his visit, Firefighter Ratto gave the students a chance to ask questions about fire safety and firefighters. As a treat, Firefighter Ratto, gifted the students with their very own Firefighter helmets.
