Art with ThankYouX
After studying and replicating his style, students from Ms. Danielle Scicluna's Art classes participated in a Skype session with famed artist ThankYouX. Students asked questions and ThankYouX shared his experience, ideas, and art advice. Thank you, Ms. Scicluna for arranging this opportunity for our young artists! And thank you, ThankYouX! Southside Hurricane Relief Effort
So far, to join with other CB schools on the "Southside," Tamanend has engaged its community, students and parents by selling baked goods and Wawa coffee during both BTSNs. We thank Wawa for partnering with us! And congratulations to all NJHS bakers and parents/guardians who bought or donated money! We raised $453.19 to donate to the American Red Cross.
On Wednesday, September 20th, the Tamanend Staff participated in a Jeans for Hurricane Relief effort raising another $180 bringing Tamanend's total contribution to the American Red Cross to over $630.
Now it is time to engage our entire student body in this Southside Hurricane Relief Project. To do this, we will have a Walk for Relief. This walk has two functions. First, to raise money through student sponsorships for Hurricane Relief; and second, to focus on the benefits and experience the fun of walking for exercise all together. On October 13, Tamanend students and staff will walk for 20 minutes followed by a group aerial photo.
To sponsor your student, go to My Payments Plus and find Tamanend Walk for Hurricane Relief. If you have trouble with My Payments Plus, please email Mrs. Donna Kirkpatrick. Again, all monies raised will be donated to the American Red Cross to support their Hurricane Relief efforts.
Imagine, if every student receives a $10 sponsorship, Tamanend will raise more than $9000 for this worthy cause!
8th & 9th Graders: L2U Sign-ups
We will have our first L2U on Saturday, November 11th for all interested 8th and 9th graders who have not been linked before. To receive an invitation to L2U, students (or parents, guardians, teachers) need to fill out a quick nomination form. We will send invitations based on nominations in late October. That means we need nominations by October 20. Students who return the signed permission form first will be the ones who are admitted to L2U.
L2U starts at 8:30 and ends at 11 a.m. Being that it is an action-and-learning-packed two-and-a half hours, students must commit to attending the entire session (no leaving early). Participation is free and student participants get a L2U t-shirt at the end.
Link Leaders Wanted
8th & 9th Graders,
If you have already participated in L2U before, and you want to remain involved in this student advocacy program, click here to complete a Link Leader application. Link Leaders will assist in leading L2U Saturdays and meet with Mrs. Leatherbarrow to promote community, energy and action at Tamanend!
