Reading
RI.4.6 Compare and contrast a firsthand and secondhand account of the same event or topic; describe the differences in focus and the information provided.
This week, we will be working to understand how nonfiction texts are written about the same topic, but from two different points of view. A firsthand account of a story is written from that person's point of view. A secondhand account of the same topic would be written from an outside person's point of view. For instance, a biography is written from a secondhand account while an autobiography is written from a firsthand account.
Math
4.NF.1 Explain why a fraction a/b is equivalent to a fraction, by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ
even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
This week we will be working to review what fractions are and how to find equivalent fractions. For example, 1/2 is equivalent to 8/16. 5/10, and 4/8.
