Family
This week we spent a lot of time talking about families. We talked about where a family lives, who's in a family and fun things you can do with your family.
We learned an awesome song and did a project where we shared our family pictures. They will be displayed in our hallway for a bit:)
Conferences
Happy Thanksgiving!
I will be heading to my sister's as she will be hosting Thanksgiving for our family:)
I will not be doing a weekly update next week as we only have two days of school.
What did we learn this week?
Writing: The students are continuing to become experts in our writing process. Students sentences are continuing to tell the "who," "did what," in their stories. The students also began their first editing strategy called "dot and say." This allows students to make sure their sentence makes sense including the "who" and "did what."
Phonics: We continued talking about beginning sounds in words. We learned the poem "Jack Sprat." Our new high frequency words were "so" and "they." We also learned our first word family. The -at family. We learned to change the first sound in a letter to make new words. We had a lot of fun coming up with many different words. We also talked about vowels and consonants. We learned a new song called "Vowel Bat."
Math: We talked about different ways to make numbers 2-5 on our hands. (e.g. 4 + 1 =5 and
3 + 2 = 5).
We also learned a fun number ordering game called "Treasure Hunt 1-10!"
