Conference Meals: They went well. Jimmy Johns no longer donates the platter so may want to shop around. Ideas for next year to look at is Jakes, Kwik Trip and
Teacher Appreciation: May 8 - 12, 2017
Facebook Message to let parents know and donuts delivered to teachers one of the day.
Educare Banquet Basket: Fire Pit with a whole bunch of things inside… smores, chairs, roasting sticks…
Kindergarten Round Up: Zach will be at both meetings to give a PTO speech and Cathy will be there for apparel.
5th Grade Apparel: Teachers are working on getting sizes from students and will get that information to Cathy for the order.
Yearbooks: 20 extra were ordered. Order was submitted. We ordered 20 extra for students who may decide to want them last minute.
Family Fun May 25th Night: 6-8pm
Book Fair is 7:30 - 8:00pm. Buy one get one free. Set Up Wednesday the night before. Facebook, newsletters, and emails from teachers for advertising for Spring Event. Ask Michelle to send out a shoutpoint.
DJ $120
Photo Booth $400 - volunteers to keep the kids in line and waiting. Cones and rope to make the line more organized.
Food: Pizza Dominos, Popcorn (free), Cotton Candy, Water (free)
Cost: one ticket per photo strip and one ticket for one slice of pizza. Each ticket costs $1
Volunteers: 2 stern volunteers at photo booth, ticket sales, food servers, book fair - third grade teachers.

Treasurer’s Report:
Expense $50 pizza from I Love To Read Night
Movie Single Event License - Disney movies are not covered under the license so a single event movie license was purchased from the viewing on Zootopia.
Principal’s Report:
Conferences are coming up - thanks in advance for the meals. MCA and NWEA are coming up, students are testing later in the testing window to allow for more instructional time. MCA test in mid April and NWEA following. The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders take the MCA. Educare Basket - Friday May 19th - the winning basket receives $2000 for the PTO. All of the money that the Educare gives out all stays within the district. The grants are looking for innovative ideas by teachers and schools. Baskets are due the week before the event.
Teacher’s Report:
Thanks for the books!!! Thank you Lisa for all of your work. The National Honor Society students from Mankato East stayed and helped make sure the teacher’s books were picked out and organized for teachers.
Thanks for the popcorn from PTO and Cathy for Read and Feed today - kids read with their Cares buddies.
I Love to Read Night:
Pizza was a huge hit!!!
Book Fair was a huge success with Scholastic. Thank you to the third grade teachers for handling the register. Lisa is working with scholastic on trying to get more than two registers for next time. It was a change in policy with their company to only allow two registers.
Camp Out Theme was fantastic!!!

5th Grade Apparel: T-shirts for the 5th graders to get signed on the last day of school.
April 20th Kindergarten Round Up - apparel will be stocked up for this night and for next year. Mr. Monogram. Adults sizes added as well so that new teachers in the fall can have a shirt for the beginning of the year. Zach can speak to the parents as the leadership for next year.
Yearbook: Yearbooks are halfway through our required order. March 17th is deadline for the yearbooks. Link will be shared with teachers. 20 extra yearbooks will be ordered and paid for the by the PTO to be sold
Family Fun Night May 25th 6-8pm
Dance on the basketball court, dunk tank weather permitting with Mrs. Kruise going first, bounce house, buy one get one book fair, photo booth, East High School students doing caricatures
Funding Request:
Children’s Museum for First Grade Students - $4 per student for a total of $690. May 3rd in the afternoon. They are receiving a 30 minute special session for students on robotics. Motion passed.
Science Fair Ribbons - 100 Ribbons for $36 - we will order 10 stacks of 100 plus shipping for $400. This will last us for several years.
Farm America - 3rd Grade received a grant for the entrance fees for FarmAmerica in May 25th. The third grade teachers are requesting the bussing for Waseca. $468 for bussing.

Reports:
Treasurer’s Report - movie night $71 deposit. Arts grant was deposited for the entire district into our PTO and then transferred to the art teachers so expenses reflect that deposit.
Principal’s Report
March 3rd is Science Fair - always looking for judges. Conferences March 14, 16 and 21st. March 17 11:00 am Parent Circle - ELL parents and families are invited in to talk about school issues - social media is topic for March. April 20th Kindergarten Roundup 4:30 and 6:00.
Old Business:
Movie Night was a success! Thinking about communication with the electronic Thursday Folder. What other ways can we communicate about events without paper going home!
New Business:
I Love To Read on February 23rd 6:00 - 7:30pm
Read and Feed - February 24th - Popcorn in the classrooms for their reading time.
Book Fair - Third Grade Teachers coming to support Book Fair. NHS students will be coming to help with Book Fair and I Love to Read. Clifford will be here! Book Fair will be open during the day starting at 7:30! Thanks Lisa!
Pizza will be sold at the event. $1 cactus bread and $1.50 for pizza slice

Reports: Treasurer’s Report: Walkathon donation of $50. Teacher’s Report: Everything is great!
Principal’s Report: This spring Lifetouch potentially contract is up and we can explore options for photos and yearbooks.
** Michelle asked parents to think about our dream school and what we would want if we could have anything for our building. Mrs. Kruise is thinking of doing Popcorn with the Principal to have a time for Students to share with her!
Old Business:
Apparel Order went off without a hitch with Mr. Monogram.
Pizza Party - Coon’s class on December 22nd. Had a lot of fun! They earned from the money raised for the Walkathon.
Calendar of Events for 2017-2018 has been booked and is similar to this year’s event.
New Business:
Movie Night - Zootopia, popcorn
I Love to Read Night - Camping Theme
Hopefully games being purchased and taught to students and then given away as prizes. Passports for students to get around to all the stations. Pizza will be sold at I love to read night.
Yearbook - yearbook forms are here and will get sent out closer to the time yearbook forms are due.
Music Performance - Flowers for the music teacher and accompanist will be ordered.

MSU Children’s Theater Production of “The Stolen Wand” for $375 for the entire building.
Art Fund - Grant received for all art teachers in the district. Money was deposited into account and dispersed to art teachers in district.

Welcome and Introductions
Treasurer’s Report - Rollerskating is currently happening in phy ed. We will pay for approximately $350-$400 for skates of students who were not able to pay.
Teacher’s Report: Updated Calendars put in teachers boxes
Principal’s Report: WELCOME Mrs. Kluck! Nancy Kluck joined us tonight as interim principal and introduced herself
Walkathon Wrap Up: Mrs. Coon’s third grade class will get a pizza party as the class who raised the most money for the walkathon! Kindergarteners won first place and second place and also had the most participation. Thank you to the Kindergarten parents! We raised $4200 as a whole. Participation and total was down from last year. Prizes will be distributed on Thursday.
Apparel: Apparel Order may be pushed back later next year. There was a lot of stuff right away in the beginning of the school year. Look for more information on donating gently used Puma apparel for those who may need the shirts.
New Business:
Yearbook - possibility of new yearbook representative which would allow us a chance to use a local photographer. This discussion will continue when Mrs. Kruise returns from leave.
Movie Night - January 26th Zootopia and popcorn. 6pm Movie License will need to renewed this fall.
May family fun night - a couple of dj options for music entertainments

Other Ideas:
Photo Booth - $250 , Cotton Candy, Mike Callahan Magician in St. Peter, Passport for students that get stamped at each station and then once it is full they can turn it in for the prize, Art Department at East High School to do activities with students
Time is still being determined.
We decided to use Mankato East DJs so that we can also use the money to do Photo Booth. More activities will be researched and determined at future meetings.

PTO October 4th Minutes
Walk-a-thon Update: Thanks for all those who volunteered, donated money and walked with their families or students. It was a beautiful evening and the kids were fast as they ran and walked by those cheering them on! Thanks to the MSU football and softball team for being out their with our Pumas! We raised $4200 for the PTO this year. This is down from last year which raised $6000 but still more then when we held the event in the Spring of 2015.
Apparel Orders went home form the week of October 3rd. Students have until October 21st to get the orders turned in.
Approved increasing the babysitting pay to $20.
Teacher’s Report – Jenna Carlson –
She would talk with the other teachers about ways to improve Walk-a-thon engagement. Some ideas discussed at the meeting were having grade level competitions, and the winning class could have a PJ day, bonus recess time, or fun Friday afternoon.
Principal’s Report –
4th Grader classes attend History Fest on Friday October 5th.
MEA is October 20th and 21st. Students will not have classes on this Thursday and Friday.
Secretary Report –
Minutes were published via smores.com, and received positive feedback about this method. Minutes will be shared on Facebook and email for easy access for parents to information at PTO meetings.
New business –
* Book Fair –
300 books were able to be donated to the school based on the total dollars purchased during the book fair.
* Salvage Sisters are hosting a Trunk or Treat, and are having a Scarecrow contest. Jenna Carlson volunteered her class to create the Scarecrow, and it is due by October 28th.
* Continued Concern about children crossing at the intersection of Timberwolf Dr. and Heron Dr. – School employees are at the entrances to the school property, ie the upper and lower driveways. Concerned parents should contact the city government to ask for another traffic evaluation of this intersection.
* Yearbook costs to remain at $12, and the ordering process will be the same as last year. Order forms are expected to be sent out in early January.
* School Supply kits will not be offered by the PTO for the 2017 / 2018 school year.

Update on Book Fair and Open House
Book Fair Success! Thanks to those who bought books at our book fair! The dollars we earn go right back into the classroom. We were able to purchase/order over 300 books for our teachers classrooms on that night thanks to your purchases!
September Minutes
Principal’s Report:
We are looking for a new parent rep for the Worlds Best Workforce! This is a district and community wide curriculum committee for our district. Meetings run 3:30 - 4:30 on October 12, Dec 15, Feb 6, April 18.
Rosa Parks now has a Twitter account! Rppumapride
New Parent Newsletter will be coming home twice a month.
New Businuess:
Mr. Monagram is our new apparel person. We will be adding adult tie dye shirts and baseball tshirts. We will be sending an apparel order out first week of October in Thursday folders and available the night of Walkathon. We will be collecting gently used Puma Apparel for donations. Teachers will help us distribute to students who need them.
School Kidz: Do we continue offering an option for school supply kit after the delay in arrival. We are going to continue researching other options before making a decision.
Lifetouch: We are up for renewal and possibly a look at other companies. We want to make sure all of our families have a positive experience at Entrance Conferences.
Open House/Walkathon:

Book Fair Set Up - will begin setting up after school on Wednesday September 28.
Book fair hours: 7:30 am - 6:45 pm. Clean up will happen after the bookfair
Open House 5:30 - 6:45
Line up to Walk at 6:45
Popcorn for Open House and done by the time we walk.
If firefighter is available we would love to have him join us at the Open House.
Parking will only be available in the Upper Lot
Bookfair scholastic dollars over $3000 so teachers can put on their wish list and PTO will buy anything not on the list.
Food Fundraiser:

Principals Report: Thought Exchange is available on website. There is a summary of the key themes and the thoughts that received a lot of stars are listed as a passion. More information is also available. The next step for the district is to have conversations about suggestions either for the building or system wide.
End of year Wrap up: Awards ceremony was on the last day of school, transition for 5th to 6th was done with Prairie Winds administrators visiting. Kindergarten roundup went well - hopefully we can get these dates on the calendar sooner this year as well as the music performances.
School Kitz were ordered
Educare Basket - Family Game Night theme. Games in baskets and gift cards for some of the businesses that have donated to us this year as a thank you to them.
Apparel - handed out the last day.
Book Fair and Family Picnic - May 19th. Buy one Get one Book Fair.
Retirement: Mrs. Wortel and Peggy McCarthy (head cook) are retiring.
Math League - $30 funding request granted
