The Counselor's Corner
Let us introduce ourselves! I am Mandy Hayward and I share the responsibility of being one of two counselors at DCIS. Starting my educational career as a 5th grade teacher, I learned early on that my heart wanted to help students, even more than teaching academics. I then began counseling 21 years ago, 10 being here at DCIS. I love it!
I am Gina Burrell, and I have the honor of being a co-counselor with Mandy Hayward. I am a mental health counselor, turned school counselor, and I love getting to work with your students! My background is Marriage and Family therapy, and I was blessed to spend the first part of my career working with couples, families, and individuals. After having my own children, I have enjoyed working for Deer Creek Schools for the past four years as a school counselor. Your students make my job fun!
We are here to help your students work through barriers to be successful academically. Supporting social/emotional development is part of our job too. We are here to help in any way we can!
