Student Drop Off and Pick Up
In order to ensure student safety, eliminate students passing between vehicles and maximize the efficiency of our limited drop off and pick up space at WMS, please adhere to the following:
A.M. Student Drop Off
We request that students do not arrive to school prior to 7:35 as we do not have supervision available prior to that time.
Please do not park in the curbside lane. If you need to park and enter the building between 7:30 and 7:50, please use an available spot in the east lot.
When dropping off students in the parking lot, you will see three posted signs upon entering the drop off lane. Please pull forward to the far southeast sign prior to dropping off your student(s). Pulling forward as far as possible will allow for a maximum number of vehicles to drop students along the curb. By avoiding student drop off along the far north side of the curb, we will improve traffic flow and reduce congestion, all while increasing safety for our students and other pedestrians. Please do not drop students from the outer (East) through lane.
When exiting the parking lot to the right, please pull forward to the stop sign on 8th street. If turning left, please continue left through the parking lot and turn right onto Ash street.
When dropping students off on main street, please pull to the very front of the cutout. This will allow numerous students to be dropped off at the same time.
P.M. Student Pick Up
Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the curbside lane. If you must park and enter the building during dismissal times (2:30-3:15), please use an available spot in the staff parking lot. Most often these can be found along the outer east portion of the lot.
If you are a lead vehicle, please pull completely forward to the far southeast posted sign. Once your student enters your vehicle please continue forward if possible or merge into the through lane and exit the lot.
When utilizing the curbside cutout on Main Street, please pull as far forward (west) as you can. This will allow more cars to fill the curbside space and will prevent a backlog that might block up the 8th/Main intersection, which leads to students cutting through cars, which is something that we are trying to avoid. Once your student has loaded into your vehicle, please merge slowly into the traffic flow on westbound Main Street. Again, we would ask that you not leave your vehicle unattended in that curbside space- if you need to come inside the building, please park in a lined space in the east lot and enter the building at that time.
If your student walks to school or rides a bike or skateboard, please remind them to only cross Main Street at the crosswalks on 7th and 9th streets and to be aware of all traffic as they are crossing the street.
