Message from Mr. Romeo
Greetings from GES!
Among my favorite months at GES is October!
Lots of fun events just around the corner like Pumpkins with Personality and the Kindergarten Halloween Parade. Yet what I most enjoy seeing is our children embracing opportunities to help those less fortunate. From food drives to sock drives, families at Gainfield School never hesitate to step forward to support others in our community.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Jon Romeo

Socktober 2021 @ GES
Did you know socks are one of the least donated items to homeless shelters?
In October 2011, Brad Montague created SOCKTOBER. Since then, sock drives have been springing up to benefit local shelters. In 2013, Kid President teamed up with Socktober to spread the word. Last year, people on all seven continents donated pairs of socks!
St. Vincent dePaul Shelter in Waterbury will once again gladly accept any socks we can collect. So, please send in a pair of new socks to support this cause.
At Gainfield, we will collect the socks in a net set up in the Library, from October 1st-October 29th. Last year we collected over 800 pairs of socks. Let’s make our goal 1,000 this year!
Everyone needs warm feet!
Thank you!

Among the treasured traditions at Gainfield School is the annual Kindergarten Costume Parade on Halloween.
This year's parade will take place on the blacktop out back on Friday, October 29th at 10:15 a.m.
Please note: The special treat of wearing a costume at school is reserved for the youngest members of our school community. We ask that students in grades one through five do not wear or bring halloween costumes to school.
