Workshop Title: Learning Ally : Helping children with reading-related learning disabilities and visual impairments reach their full potential

By sharing best practices with parents and educators, much can be done to help dyslexic, blind, and visually impaired students learn to read proficiently and to leverage audio books and other aids to enrich and improve their learning. In this training, you will expand your toolbox of strategies for struggling readers, learn to implement innovative solutions to inspire independence, and revolutionize your classroom to effectively support students who learn differently.

Team Up With TexQuest: Connect to the Curriculum Session # 308666
Discover ways to reach students by integrating TexQuest digital resources into your curriculum with Ann Vyoral from Region 20.
- Explore options such as text-to-speech, translations, reading level adjustment, advanced search by content and lexile level, highlights and notes, and save to the cloud
- Find TEKS-aligned instructional materials in multiple print formats, as well as images, videos, and audio files for differentiation with persistent links for teacher/student use
- Integrate digital resources into lesson preparation, inclusion plans, performance assessments (TEKS Resource System), student exploration, and/or project based learning (PBL)
- Bring TEKS standard or topic for your next lesson, leave with a list of resources to use

Accomodate Special Populations with Digital Resources from TexQuest Session #308940
TexQuest digital resources provide access to authoritative online content including articles, videos, images, and full-text nonfiction e-books, in English and Spanish. Join us for an informative and interactive sessions with Representatives from Gale/Cengage and Britannica School who will cover how these digital resources can be used to accommodate all students, including:
- Supplemental material, scaffolded by reading level and correlated to the TEKS, to support curriculum and differentiation
- Text to Speech features
- Translations for multiple languages
- Searches by content level and lexile level
- Simultaneous access to full text E-books
- Persistent links to articles and searches to share with students and parents
- Topic lists by content area
- Graphic organizers
TexQuest is offered to K-12 public and open-enrollment charter school districts through the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, with shared funding from the state legislature. Please bring your own device to this session.
