Summit Ridge Middle School February 2022
Learner Profile: Inquirer
For the month of February, our school will be highlighting what it means to be an “Inquirer”. As an IB school, we encourage students and teachers to further their love for learning beyond the classroom.
To promote "Inquiring" learners at home, ask your student what topics interest them. What are they curious about? Doing research on the topic of interest is a great way for parents and students to spend time together. You can write out a list of questions for research. Students and parents will learn so much by learning together.
Hawk Leaders
Here at Summit Ridge we have a group of 8th Grade leaders known as the “Hawk Leaders.” Students apply in 7th Grade to become an 8th Grade Hawk Leader. Teacher references are required as part of the application. The Hawk Leaders help with various events throughout the year, including school wide contests, hat days, and school fundraisers. Additionally, these 8th Grade student leaders help tutor 6th Grade Advisement classes and assist in school tours for incoming students. One of the most important tasks for our Hawk Leaders is to organize spirit weeks since that drives our positive school culture.
