A Message from Dr. Davenport
I hope all students, parents, and families enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving Break. I was grateful to be in the presence of family and to watch plenty of sports with football and The World Cup. I hope everyone is enjoyed turkey and all the other food items during this holiday as well. Below is brief recap of some events held before the break as well as information for this upcoming week back on campus.
In partnership with Impact Houston Church we hosted Thanksgiving Food Can Drive. Impact Houston Church has been a wonderful community partner to Roosevelt Elementary providing meals and other resources for our families and staff members. I am proud to say we were able to donate over 1,500 items to Impact Houston Church. Our Grade 3 students and teachers were the lucky winners of our pizza party.
On Tuesday, November 15th, the Houston Area Urban League hosted a Literacy Night for our parents and students. The event will a success beyond words. I am grateful for the dedication our parents showed in learning about the Building Blocks of Literacy. Reading is the foundation of everything our students must learn. I hope the parents enjoyed their learning and I hope the students enjoyed the books they were able to take home. We look forward to hosting the Houston Area Urban League in the future.
On Thursday, November 17th, we hosted our Thanksgiving Luncheon for families to join their students. We are always grateful when our families can come and have lunch with their scholars. It was nice seeing everyone enjoying their turkey lunches or meals of their choice.
Later that evening, our 5th Grade team hosted our first Loteria Night. All I can say is that I can't wait for our next Loteria night. Thank you to all the families who came out and made this night a success. Congratulations to all the winners.
Pictures from all these events will be below.
